The pro series will give you the option for a longer barrel/slide and slightly longer sight radius. All things being equal I would suggest the pro series rather than modding a used standard M&P.

I got 6.21 miles in on the setup day and 9.96 in on match day just walking around stage 9. It was great to come help out and see some of the shooters move through. Seemed like the average for the stage was around 25 seconds and around 18 A's seeing the GM's move through in under twenty seconds...

I would get some old valve springs and mount them between the plate and the bracket on those targets. Just some longer bolts and some nylon keeper nuts so that you don't have to crank them down tight to hold. It will space them out about an inch or so but the spring should give it a little...
