Ok here goes, the best mag is the one that works for you 100% of the time. That being said I have a Colt metal form in the two tone finish that would NOT lock back the slide. In an older Series 70 Govt. Worked fine in Others just not that one. I love the old Colt msgs with the M and the pony on them. I believe I've fixed the problem with the Colt Metalform mag and the Series 70 that refused to cooperate and lock open. Got a new Pachmayer round top stainless, and it works perfectly now. Go figure? I'm also with Mike regarding carrying ball for s/d. I think most danger is missing intended target under stress, thereby people say ball will pass thru. I'll bet more folks are unintentionally hit by misses than by over penetration. Just my thoughts. Feel free to chime in. Stay safe all. PS my 1911's are all 45 therefore I choose to carry ball. 9mm is a whole other story as is 38/357I have many 1911 mags but favorites for me are OEM Colt and Wilson 47D 8 Rd.
I've never had a problem with the OEM and established brand 7 rd mags. I've had no luck with the 8 rd mags seems in my 1911s the rounds nose dive and jam the gun. Anyone else experience the same problems?I have many 1911 mags but favorites for me are OEM Colt and Wilson 47D 8 Rd.
That is correct! When only the very best will do, Chip Mc Cormick 8 rd. Power mags, I believe Wilson owns the company now.
Both are good as long as they are the 7 rounders. I had the 8 rounders jam on me rounds seem to nose dive.Wilson combat or Chip McCormick power mags

Do you know what 8 rounder you where having problems with? Was it with more then one gun? Was the problem with all the 8 rounder's?Both are good as long as they are the 7 rounders. I had the 8 rounders jam on me rounds seem to nose dive.
Yep, same problem in 2 guns. Now I have to say I put stronger springs in those guns?Do you know what 8 rounder you where having problems with? Was it with more then one gun? Was the problem with all the 8 rounder's?
No, the springs I put in have a higher tension.Or ... just stretch your existing springs a bit. I've done that when guns would start failing LRBHO. Fixed them.
