Former Military Policeman (early 1970s) and long-time lover of the 1911. I owned a 1945-vintage Colt example but sold it before moving overseas... and seriously regret that decision now. I'm interested in acquiring a clean, back-to-basics GI-style pistol; whether domestic or foreign is yet to be decided, so I'm joining the group to get others' insights about the various manufacturers, what is good and what to steer clear of.
