Favorite Shotgun

They have a funny name , I'll be back to the house in couple of hours and I'll get one out, got a couple of them, just a little rubber plug that goes where you load the shells, can't believe I can't remember the name

that's smart, got to take care of your better half, our local conservative ration station 98.9 WORD have had people calling in and reporting, they reach well into NC and Georgia, they upped their signal and really reach out from Greenville and early voting has been fantastic so far, NC has been amazing considering what those folks are going through

Thanks, I will look into that. MAGA!
Federal also developed a 'special' 00 Buck Shorty load, of 6 each segmented 00 shot, that is designed to split apart. When used with firearms designed to cycle sub-length shotshells like the Mossberg 590S, the loads offer much higher magazine capacities with up to twice the wound channels over standard buckshot loads! They designed it as the " ultimate " shotgun round for urban area home defense with low recoil, controlled penetration, AND ONLY -
$34.00 for 10 shells - Yikes!!

Such a deal ;-) But I have NOT seen them in stock anywhere so far - in very limited looking around in Orange County, Southern California.
And yes the newest Mossberg 590S automatically adjusts to any length, interchangeably, in any combination fed, 1.75, 2.75 and 3-inch shells !
SO Many Choices !

May we Bless God, so that He can bless us, as He.did in the past. !

Amen brother! And at that price let's get 100 rds‍♂️Federal does make 1 3/4" shells, I got a case and forgot I had them, not the expensive stuff and lot cheaper than the Aguilla, not sure I spelled that right. I forgot about the 590S, no plug needed, also forgot about a totally beat up 500 police trade in hide in back of safe at my sons house, got it at my LGS, that's what I bought the Opsol plugs for. Paid 150 bucks for it, gonna throw some kind of rattle can paint on it and use it with the short shells

Shooting some mini shells should prove to be ALMOST as nice and easy as pulling the trigger on a 'trusty' 1911 .45 cal. semi-auto pistol. Just smile if the shotgun has less recoil than the 1911 ;-)
& When you go to have fun at the range, you'll have to post some targets it you use the 00 buck - just to show us how the patterns look.

Agree with the recoil comparison, even though I use a 9mm 1911 more these days there is nothing like the push of a 45 1911 and since I don't enjoy 12 ga recoil to much these days the recoil of the minis should be very pleasant just like push of the 45. This must be one of those nights I find hard to go to sleep, conversing on a forum at 3:18 AM is a clue but is the best forum and as always interesting

Opsol mini plug
A 73 I own no 9mms no 410s, 20 ga, just 12 gauge, 45acp & a boat load of 12 gauge ammo.
Shooting a 1911 in 45acp is not as easy as it once was & the LW Ithaca Mod 37 is not as pleasant as it once was.

Every time I shoot the Kickers like my Marlin .444 I just say to myself, if you cross me it will hurt you a hell of a lot more than it will hurt me Brother.

I have never felt is was a pleasant experience to shoot a High Power match @ 200, 300, & 600 yards. My left arm & right shoulder are bruised
for days after shooting 80 for score & 8 sighters of 7.62 X 51mm.

I would use the Shorty shells in a Shotgun that was made for them, not by using an add on part for $10.00.
You must trust your weapons with your life, they must work every time or your DEAD!

My day job was as a Mechanic however I have been working on my & others Guns since the early 70s. I have learned a lot in that time frame.

I came late to shotguns.. though I'd bought a bolt action, mag -fed 16 g. Mossberg as a teenager back in the late 60's.
Not sure why I bought it, other than I thought I should have a shotgun. Just looked @ it..had it for over 50 yrs. and doubt it has 100 shells shot thru it.
It does still look new ( as it should) barrel says it a Mod. 390A. I inherited a Sears 12g. pump from my Dad, it was probably unfired when I got it..Dad bought around '66 or '67 when there was rioting in Detroit. I believe that's when he bought most his guns, (which he never used) Did some research & learned the Sears 12g was a Sears branded Winchester "econo gun"..nothing special, it works. I know I shot maybe 100 shols thru it.
When I moved back to Mi. a old school friend, (from Jr. high & high school) invited me to shoot clay birds with him. Just hand thrown birds. I thought it was fun, so I asked around at my club ( I actually entered my club's shotgun club bldg !) Looked at what guys were shooting , then asked a few guys, "what's a good entry level shotgun ? " for shooting clay birds) Almost universal response was , a Browning Citori " also mentioned by a few was a rem 1100.
Stopping @ a gunshop sometime later, looked @ a Citorui.. it was nice, but priced @ something over $ 1K..

A co-worker @ my job was a serious shotgunner, his recommendation was a Rem. 1100. While looking , learned they'd just come out with the 1187, an upgrade from the 1100. It was more reasonably priced, so I bought one. Shot it once or twice, thought it was nice, worked well. Happened to stop @ another gun shop & while looking around, saw a big "sale" sign hanging on a Citori.. it was actually reduced in price, from the last place I looked at one. Dug out the credit card,
and bought it..& lived happily ever after ;)

Well maybe not that, but I was impressed that when I started shooting the Citori, I hit more birds ! I did find & buy a set of Briley knurled choke tubes for it,
as no wrench is needed when changing choke tubes. Next, I bought a Mec Grabber , some wads, shot ,& powder &, then started loading shells.
My club is bordered by a small pond to the south, and there's a bunch of wetlands behind the shotgun fields.
The EPA came in, & made the club move the trap, skeet , sporting clays fields. This took some time, & I lost interest, went back to shooting pistols
Another friend suggested shooting shotguns @ clay birds , & I took the Citori out & shot it, 1 st time in too many years.
I need to do that again, soon.
