Had a few 5.56 /223 Ar's & decided that since I hd a Mini 14 & a Mini 30, I should get a 7.62 X 38 AR upper, for a couple of reasons.
When I started shooting both my Ruger's with some regularity, I became aware of their shortcomings..and also things I disliked about them.
Everythings so easy to add or modify on an AR platform rifle. Also so many options/ accessories for them, they really are like Babrbie dolls for adults !
I like the idea of a 30 cal bullet, shot from an Ar-15 siZed rifle.
As I had several issues with a PSA AR-15 I'd bought, I was reluctant to buy any other PSA product, but decided to give the company another try.
Bought a PSA 7.62 X 39 upper & BCG, put it on a Bushmaster lower that I'd had my gunsmith do trigger work on., It became my most accurate AR!
Able to consistently shoot 1/2" groups @ 50 yds..with my handloads. Have had a few groups well under 1/2 " , using Hornady Z-Max Zombie bullets.
Since the PSA 7.62 X39 was so much better than I expected, I decided to try an AR-10, also from PSA.. (they call 'em PA-10)
Mine has an 18" SS barrel w/ 1:10 twist. After mounting a decent scope, I added a CMC single stage trigger ,& this rifle shot much nicer,
& more accurately than my (previous ) favorite rifle, my M1A Scout Squad. After I reaized I hadn't shot my M1A
for the past few years, sold it this past summer. Yeah, I really like the AR platform..but the 3 calibers I have is enough for me.
well, for awhile anyway..actually forgot..I did recently add an AR-9 (9mm) rifle (16" barrel) for fun, & to see if it could shoot a 9mm accurately @ 50 yds, or longer.
Didn't take long to discover, that it can.
