Why does USPSA use hit factor?

Because IDPA is a simpler game.

TGO said that if you're not fast enough, it wont matter how accurate you are.

Accuracy matters...try shooting Production Minor...the fastest guys arent usually the winners.
Disagree on the first, but that is for a time when we can sit and drink a cold one and and debate.
Now I do like this post for the last two.
BTW, anytime Jeff Cooper (the other JC) and TGO is brought into a conversation it has to be a good one.

BLUF - go fast and don't miss. My worldly (NOT) experience is to compete against self and not worry about the small crap. Have fun and better results will come with less frustration. The trick is knowing how fast you can go while still making decent hits. This is called practice. AFA the scoring it is an old med-evil trick to keep us not worthy from knowing the mystic secrets behind IPSC.

Notice that I said "simpler" not 'easier'

The first time I shot an idpa match I was told by an old experienced idpa Master that it was a simpler game. (and there are some salty old idpa guys in NWA, they get their idpa-ness straight outta Berryville)
He explained the scoring and it was obviously more simple...especially in terms of direct competition.

TGO referred to it as simpler but not easy if mem serves. I think it just depends on what one thinks is simple vs. easy. Me I think IDPA is easier because of the more standard targets and less distance one shoots; though I think it is harder to figure out where you can shave a bit of time on working the cof because many times it is either a very quick stage or your movements are somewhat scripted for you in the stage description.

Does it matter other than preference? It is all about trigger time and as I saw (and was drastically reminded of this weekend) you still have to watch that little bump on the front end of your pistol.

Anyway don't want to hi-jack the thread and if I ever get over Miss Stars way, maybe there will be a match and I can introduce myself.
