We should all take a moment and say a prayer for our friends and family in the frozen north.

We wish you all well, may you stay safe and warm during the coming hours.
May the hand of God rest on your steering wheel if must be out in the torrent of white stuff falling from the sky.
Let God guide your steps as you traverse the frozen tundra and climb sets of stairs.

So far so good up here- knock on wood...

Road travel is verboten here now except for snow removal units, law enforcement, fire and emergency vehicles.

So, why are there people stil driving along? Even more important, idiots are flying down my road on quad ATVs that have NO BUSINESS being on the road here in Dodge City!!!

Oh well, such is life. Got maybe 4 or 5 inches so far, our niece has been actually cooperating and shoveling for us! I have to go outside soon to pour another 5 gallons of diesel into our oil tank for hot water and 60 degree constant temperature inside. Got it earlier today, gas stations are dried up on regular car fuels due to mob panic. The good news though is that we got our taxes done today. As soon as they get deposited into our bank we're filling up on oil- WOOHOO!!!

Man! I do not miss those days. Cutting wood all summer to keep warm in the winter, water pipes freezing, shoveling and plowing. My home town of Fulton, NY has already received 117" of snow.

It's been a mellow winter up until now. The 2009/2010 season was nasty, it wouldn't let up hardly at all. I think I can dig up the old thread with some pics...

My inlaws live in a corner of the NC mountains and got several feet year before last... cold as a snake's butt too. Good thing they have geothermal - 64F inside whether that's what they want or not :)

:D Ha that's funny .. You complaining about atv's on the road. If I went a week without seeing that I would be surprised

Hope it works out well for ya'll...... O wait .... For all of you ;)

Aren't there still homeless huricane victims pretty much abandoned by Bloomberg and Christie up that way? How are they making out?

Well, it's saturday.

It looks like we have about 2 feet of snow already, even higher due to wind drift. They're saying it is going to go on past 1:00 before it finally dies down. Meanwhile, the dogs freaked out. Fang went down only 2 stairs before saying screw this and made a yankee charge for the door. Goliath at least made it down the stairs before saying at least I went further than the younger generation and followed suit. A plow just went by and the snow at the sidewalk and driveway entance is maybe 4 feet high for almost the total sidewalk width. I just took a couple of pictures and will get more later. Hopefully I can figure out how to use the new Imageshack somehow to put pics up again. either that or I can e-mail them to Frost for an assist. Y'all should consider yourselves lucky that you are NOT up here! Our lovely 13 year old niece only shoveled once yesterday when there was only about 4 inches. She showed her true colors later on and has abandoned us with no further assistance most likely. That being said, it's up to the wife and myself to tackle the snow removal.

My wife just may get to cash in on that $250,000.00 bounty, er, life insurance policy on my head in the possible near future...

By the way, Rosea Carpa: Dodge City(what we call our city) is heavily populated. We live on a main street that goes through our side of the city and right into another town. We usually have some kind of accident outside on practically a weekly basis with pedestrians getting hit fairly frequently within a 1/2 mile radius. This is NOT ATV territory, they could easily get killed or even worse kill pedestrians out here. That makes bad street conditions even worse- we don't call our street Lakeview Dragway for nothing! :?

Don't know how things could be for them, it must be awful in NY and NJ. Up here we have a large number of homeless people living along the river banks. I can't imagine how they are doing right now in all of this! About the only good thing about this for them is that they can make their own shelters out of the snow- at least that's what I would do.

May God have mercy on all of the homeless throughout this blizzard!

i checked on my son in NH. he is 2 hrs north of Boston and says there is about 1 foot on the ground and 2 ft drifts. he has piped in gas for heat and doesnt have to work this weekend so he is just sitting through it.

Lucky him!

Some mental defective just went screaming down the street on a skimobile, I hope they have an intimate encounter with a snow plow truck!!! :x

As of high noon, the snow stopped and the sun is trying to shine through. Now the hard part- dealing with snow removal aftermath. In the city, there is VERY LITTLE room to displace the snow to. The sidewalk has to be cleared or we shall incur fines as well...

we're screwed and I may soon be a dead man! :|
