Range time

Going to punch steel 600-800 at PGC around 5-6 this evening. If you want to go let me know. No fun by myself. If you have never done it don't worry...I will get you on target. Call or text me at 514-5012.

I'll take you up on that when I get a better scope and I make sure we (my sweetheart) doesn't have plans for the afternoon. I foresee a new scope in the VERY near future.

Give me a heads up at some point, I'd like to try and go just to learn something. None of my weapons have glass so I doubt I could see the freaking target at that distance, but who knows, I hit 5 for 5 at 200 yards with an 84 year old rifle, its possible.

it would also be cool to see the Gun Club, as I've never been.

You are shooting STEEL on the rifle range at the Palmetto gun club?
Last time I was out there the only steel they had was the plates.

I would like to come out and give it a try. Never shot that far before but it would be fun and I would learn a little. Not sure if I can do this weekend but Maybe some time in the near future.

We do have the plate machines on the pistol bays but we also have steel square 24"x 24" at 600 and also have 6"x6" hanging plates at 600....Then at 800 we have a 12" steel gong.

Henry,

You can bet on it!

I am shooting at Boggy head this weekend with my "soon to be" Son in Law. I will possibly call you the weekend of Oct 7 - 9 as I am on vacation then and my schedule will be more flexible. I will of course call you before then to see if that is convenient for you.

I look forward to the education as I rarely have opportunities to shoot with a scope, and never over distances greater than 100 yards which, to me, defeats the purpose of a scope.

Went to twin ponds with my bro to sight in his scope....... fun day till the youngians showed up with their toys......Kid was shooting an AR style rifle, fired 5 rounds brass shoots across my field of vision as i load his mags as hes still sighting in..........he notices were his brass is going...... sees im watchin him so...... this time he rattles off the rest of the mags and piles up hot 556 brass on the table as i was loading mags WTF..... I told him to watch were his brass is going........

I really need to find another place to go shooting.....

When you are ready to join a nice club that aint real expensive call me. Every meeting we have new people introduce themselves and everytime they say they scared to shoot at boggy head. If one guy said it I would play it off but Atleast 5 per meeting say it so it must be true. You have to have a sponsor to get in so let me know. I have sponsored about 20 people so far and they are ALL happy.

Dont look at the dues and get freaked out. Its not as scary as it looks. First year will run you $250 which in reality aint elephant dung. I spend that on one midway USA order. It is broken down in to a $500 joining fee which can be paid $100 a year for 5 years or you can pay it up front and get it out the way. Then the remaining $150 is dues. If you show up to two workdays throughout the year you get a $50 credit on next years dues so year 2-5 is $200 a year with dues and joining fee combined. Then after five years its $100 for the rest of your life.....You wont be disappointed.

You can google maps it. It is off summers drive in summerville. We have out to a 840 yard range. One visit and your hooked. 99% you have the range to yourself or maybe one or two others will be there.

Henry

What is like on the average weekend?
I know they run a bunch of competitions out there.
The day and time I am able to go to the range varies wildly.
Would I be able to count on shooting a rifle or pistol anytime?

What do they have in the way of steel?
Last time I was out there they had steel plates and that was it.
(I love steel plates by the way)

Frost go to the site and look at the calendar. That will tell you times and what range its on and that is the same every month. There are down weekends and usually the matches start early and over by 12 or start at 12. and its never a sat and sun unless its a big event. I always go on the weekends around 3:30 till dark and I am always the only one there and on weekdays there is maybe 1-2 guys there....The bottom line is you can still going during a match but you have to shoot at the discretion of the match director. This has never been a problem for me or any of my friends. There are pleany of down time on the weekends for you to enjoy yourself. Pistols should never be a problem cause we have 10 poistol bays and they always leave on open at the end but it doesnt have plate machines. You would have to bring a target. Rifle range is just one big range so matches affect everything....Wednesdays are range work days so its closed until the evening and if its a fifth sat in the month its a workday as well.

They have plates in two pistol bays and thats all I shoot and I have never had to wait on a plate machine when I went in 4 years.

Henry,

how would you describe the members? They cool with black rifles, old milsurps, or are they strictly into the high end firearms and look down on us poor sob's who like to shoot surplus?

From what I have witnessed out there is they like everyone and everything. The only thing I have noticed is you have to shoot targets high enough off the ground so the bullet passes through the target and impacts the berm. If you shoot at a down angle and it strikes the ground it will skip and go over the berm and we have a neighborhood built behind us about 1.5 miles. So I have seen a few older members get on new guys case about it. Other than that everybody gets along great.

I normally only shoot my full auto in the pistol bays just so I can be sure my rounds impact the berm.

That's cool with me. I tend to enjoy shooting for accuracy more than I do shooting for volume anyway. I still plan to take you up on that range visit invitation at some point so hold that rain check for me.
