Adding another issue, my last order of Winchester 185 gr. may be light in the propellant department. My usual groups were quit a bit off and there were many failures after last shot for slide lock. I will be going back to Federal.

Is TS beating everyone else on 9mil range ammo? $95 a year doesn't sound too bad, if it converts to say $.15 per rd. What price lately boatdoc?? SG has hit $ .17 before shipping lately.

Depends what you are looking for...Remington UMC is 15.5 a round at the moment. Federal is 17.4. Fiocchi/Blazer/Magtech are hovering around 16.4 shipped. Those are prime prices, add 8% to get regular. Still the best deal in town, me thinks, since shipping is included with 1000 rounds.

I have also shot the aluminum case Independence makes and right now that is 14.5 a round. I am with Boatdoc, I shoot around 250-500 rounds a week and save a lot using TS. Does anyone here know if using aluminum cased is bad? I have heard steel is not, but never an articulated reason for why?

I used fmj on the range. it is odd. some rounds fire perfectly then--wham the slid eis jammed shut. I am just going to find a gun that likes this stuff and shoot it until it is gone. I now KNOW DW and CZs do not eat all or fire all brands. other guns like sig, WC and NHC will..for now

The chamber on my Specialist would not allow some remanufactured I had from Ammo Valley to eject it was so tight. I ended up shooting the rest through a sig 320. What was happening is the base would become thin from over reloading and the bulge would become more than the chamber would allow. On one occasion it just would not go into battery and got stuck. I handed it to my gunsmith, told him it was live, and let him deal with it.

Target Sports USA has been my go to and I never took the time to dig into velocity consistency as my accuracy was always acceptable to me on SB, Fiocchi, Blazer, Remington, and Federal. The only issue I ran into that bothered me with Federal was ten primers in a case (1000) that failed to ignite. I guess that's not a ridiculous percentage but I've never encountered that and I've been through 25-30,000 with TSUSA over the years. I used Ammo Valley and LAX early on but stopped once I discovered TSUSA would cost the same or less on 9mm/45 acp and I never had to pay for shipping on any quantity (I pay 95 annually for prime).
Agree, I have also been using Targetsports for the past 3 years, and have never had a problem. I also find that they offer excellent prices. For example, 1000 rds of Remington UMC 9mm for $155 if you register as a PRIME member. PRIME costs $95 a year gets you free S&H (even for 1 box of ammo) and an 8% discount on everything you purchase. I ordered a case ($147 for 200 rds) of 6.5 Creedmoor (Hornady Am Gunner) 140 gr on Sunday, and it's being delivered today. I think that's great service!

Finally, I try to remember I paid very good money for many of my guns, so why shoot cheap krapy ammo in an expensive gun? It may not hurt the gun, but accuracy often goes out the window (which is why you bought the gun in the first place). If you need to save some money, why not start shooting more 9mm, or maybe 2 boxes of 9mm then onto your favorite .45ACP 1911.

When brand new, my Colt Commander .45 did not like American Eagle at all ! Would not fully go into battery reliably.
Every other mfg I tried worked fine, including reloads the range sold.
Before that my new Ruger AR 556 had feeding / ejection problems; a round got stuck, blew out the mag and cracked the BCG! Not hurt, but VERY surprised. And Ruger replaced my AR just before the initial compliance ban in CA, Jan 2016.
So - Largely based on several comments from knowledgeable folks and LEOs, I also completely stopped using reloads.
Don't know for sure, but have never bought 45 cal. American Eagle since for my Colt. Have used their 9mm and 223 without any problem though.
Now I only buy new mfg ammo, and research, and ask questions. (More knowledge early on might have helped.)
No two guns are the same - and experiences vary. Just be careful having fun!

I also noticed Blazer Brass 124gr 9mm lately being crappy...reliable, but not accurate...getting some flyers where i never did before...and no, it's not me...a fellow competitor who is dead nuts accurate foumd the same thing....maybe demand is high and quality suffering to keep up with demand??

to follow up with what I mentioned earlier, I haven't used reloads in a couple years now... here are some pics of the issues I was having. Back then I had the issues memorized with who I bought them from but cant recall now so it wouldn't be fair to say. But can say I was buying from LAX, Freedom and a vendor local to my area. The light strike pic was from a brick of 500rds from the local vendor, I got a lot of 'tap-rack-bang' drills in with that brick which means the cracked case and exploded case came from the other two. When I fired the exploded case it was the last time I bought or will shoot commercial reloads from anyone, the price point wasnt saving me anything anyways.
