I've been doing so much research and it finally dawned on me - I've been zeroing my AK in correctly - My battle zero I thought was at 25 yards but was not - It never dawned on me before to zero for 300 - even though I've heard some shooter mention it at the range, but it all makes sense now.

A 300m battle zero will put you about 3 - 3.5in high on an 8in plate at 100m

When addressing a target at 100m, you will hold about 3in low to compensate for that - it also allows for you to have a better target acquisition instead of covering up the target with your sight at that range

Let's just say when I was attempting to hit a 300 yard target with my AK, I was holding my post well above the target hoping that I was on - Even with adjusting my slider. It also explains why I was skipping rounds into targets at 300 yards!

Now, what are you going to do about this? Is this a crossover zero discovery?

Once I can get to a range, I will correct this on my AK, then I wait for a 3-gun or rifle match and eat that 300yd popper for lunch!

No, I just learned that I was doing it all wrong before.

Funny guy!

I'm still undecided on the zero at what ever range thing.
If I were going to shoot at 300 yds consistantly, I'd zero for that range.
If the range shooting is going to be at 50 yds out to 500, I'd think just memorizing the ballistics table, or printing it off and taping it to the buttstock would work fine.
BTW I have two different ballistics tables taped to the buttstock of my hunting rifle. Depending on the BC of each round.
