I've been doing so much research and it finally dawned on me - I've been zeroing my AK in correctly - My battle zero I thought was at 25 yards but was not - It never dawned on me before to zero for 300 - even though I've heard some shooter mention it at the range, but it all makes sense now.
A 300m battle zero will put you about 3 - 3.5in high on an 8in plate at 100m
When addressing a target at 100m, you will hold about 3in low to compensate for that - it also allows for you to have a better target acquisition instead of covering up the target with your sight at that range
Let's just say when I was attempting to hit a 300 yard target with my AK, I was holding my post well above the target hoping that I was on - Even with adjusting my slider. It also explains why I was skipping rounds into targets at 300 yards!
