Stage three I think. Shooting buck from a buiding.
Got 4 procedurals for having a foot outside the boundry. RO even called it, but was so in the zone that I didn't hear him.....

Can't hear crap anyway, but none the less, my fault.

I didn't ever pattern my shotgun to see where my pellets group up close, and knocked over both No Shoots on Stage 8, my last stage. I took out the intended targets, but I blew the elephant dung out of those No Shoots while doing it.

The other mistake was buying 3" Magnum buckshot and high velocity slugs. I bought them, a lot of them, without actually examining the package. I just read "00 Buckshot" and "Rifled Slug", nothing else. That was retarded.

The slugs actually didn't really cause me any trouble, but my recovery time would have been a bit faster with regular 2-3/4" slug shells. The buckshot, on the other hand, was a nightmare. I used it on the steel on Stage 3, because I had to save what little 9-pellet 2-3/4" buckshot I did have for the four paper targets. The 3" buckshot was pretty violent, and made transitioning very time-consuming because there was a LOT of up and down movement. Weak-hand loading it also threw me off, too.

Stage three. I don't know how many times I had to shoot that far left popper. But I kept hitting it and the dang thing didn't want to fall. Just about everything else failed for me on that stage as well. Aside from that I missed a target on a couple of stages and dropped shells Everywhere!

But you were one of the few who went 5 for 5 on the steel plates from the hip, must be all that ghetto style shotgunning you've been practicing. I saw a lot of shooters sling a lot of lead at those 5 plates. Especially the top 2 plates.

The biggest mistake I think any shooter makes is to talk themselves out of being able to make the shot when they have the ability to make it. I saw some really great shooters convince themselves it was too hard, they never practice that way, it's too close inside the tube, and other "reasons" why they couldn't. Those that just stepped up and ran it seemed to do the best.

I am estatic about that stage! I just thought to my self. I can do this just keep going. Load, shoot, and finish. I took 12th in limited on that stage. I have honestly in my life shot maybe 3-6 rounds from the hip(missing) and that was years ago. But then again with the mag tube on jesse's gun I could of reached out and knocked em over lol. And of course my best stage is the one that didn't make it on film LOL!

Thanks!

Chase that was impressive to watch. That stage was a trickster stage. I can't remember shooting from the hip EVER at a target. The 1st three went down somewhat easy, this is where the trick comes in, you are thinking that the first 3 went so easy that you end up loading two more times before clearing those last two. :roulette:

And I made note to never buy low recoil buck again for a steel match because of that one frigging target! I had to hit 2 or 3 times to get it down myself. When a calibration call was made Kurt knocked it down......Barely!
Odd how most everyone couldn't drop it and when Jerry M. was trying to shoot the other popper kept blowing down having to be reset after he had loaded and made ready. Like about 3 or 4 times? Oh well, lessons learned, that's half the fun.

those cubes were the bane of the rifle guys last year. Hit them multiple times, and they never fell. Those self healing targets do not perform as advertised.
We have some at the Ponca Range. I've hit them dead on at 5 yds with a .45 ACP HP, and they just quiver.
We talked about the need for a frangible or varmint round to make them perform in our squad.

That shoot from the hip stage. I knocked them all down with bird shot. I think it had to do with what choke you had in at the time.

I used #7 1/2 with a Light Mod Choke & didn't have trouble knocking them down (other than a few misses).
Jeff used the same set up & went 1 for 1 on them.

They went down pretty easy.....if hit. The back 2 screwed with a lot of shooters because it was harder to tell where your shots were going. My ears are still ringing from a couple of those open comps.

Yeah I think I will stick with the Low recoil but stick a box or two of the regular on my belt/pocket/gun just in case...
I am glad I got to shoot with Jerry It was an experience I Hope to repeat someday! Actualy there are quite a few shooters Id like to shoot with again... but you know Jerry is my hero!

I did it with a Cylnder choke and the cheap walmart 7 1/2 it was pretty sweet deal load 6 shoot em down with 5 in 15.85 secs.

Those boxes were not that bad for the buck... though! I have shot the Non solid ball with a 9mm and a .303 brit and it rolls around pretty good. I bet the would be better targets for the shooters
