Help me justify TRP

Looks like a nice 1911. I have all Colts so you know what I would buy LOL. ;)

I wish I could offer an opinion but I've never had a TRP or even a Springfield. Sorry!
I will say that if your happy enough with the one you have to be considering another, then by all means go for it!
On the other hand a higher end choice is never wrong either.
See I'm not of any help:-)

I'm in the same position. I have no experience with the TRP. It appears to be a good choice. SA makes good American made 1911's.

Have you ever thought about building one yourself? It's a lot of fun.

Spoken like a true Fanatic Bob :) we are the worst to ask about buying a 1911.
However we must admit that Springers are a great Copy of the 1911 & they do
have a good rep for reliability.

Like CE said. How about gathering all the parts & building your own 1911 it's not
that bad & parts are available?

I'd buy a NH Talon right now but I am not going to put down $1K or so on a 12 month wait list. Who the hell knows what's going to happen in even 4 months in this messed up world. Much less 12. Plus I'm not 30 yrs old and have a whole life ahead of me. So I'll take what is available now or just keep what I have. And be happy I have that. God's Grace my health is pretty good, and I'm not broke. I'm ready for whatever. Thanks for your input. So rock on. MAGA!

You sound like you're very practical. I agree with you on the waiting list. 12 months from now is a long time considering all that's going on in this crazy world. I hate waiting in the best of circumstances.

Did you decide what you're going to do? It's been my experience that a Springer is a great shooting gun. How about building one? Is that something you're considering?

It's a boring Sunday and enquiring minds want to know. :)

Building no thanks. Not the time or space. I'm on the search for a TRP. No hurry, just what to see if it will outperform the MC Operator I have now. And that will be a good achievement. The quality and accuracy of the Springer MC/O really surprised me. It's right up there with my DW & LB. That's the real reason I want a TRP. To see if it wasn't a fluke.

Good luck. You're going to have some fun.

Sounds like you had bad luck with Springers? No?
No. I didn't mean it that way. I believe they are very good firearms. I literally meant you're going to have fun as in bringing a new gun into the collection. I always enjoy that. :) I wished you good luck sincerely in finding the one you want. Maybe you've already found it?

My mistake. I read too far into it. Some people have a bad taste on Springers. Why? I do not. I've had worst luck with Colt's on that issue. But that's just my experiences. I might just grab another LB is the wind blows in that direction. Throw the dice.

The written word has no expression or tone. It's easy to misunderstand sometimes. It takes a little extra effort sometimes to be clear. I forget that a lot.

I hope you enjoy whatever you end up with. I look forward to hearing about it.

My red neck logic. If you are excited about it, and have the means, get it. I think we all know if we don't like it, we turn it for a nominal loss. I justify it in my small brain as a rental fee of sorts. Good thing with today's market, a guy would be glad to have what he's looking for gently used saving $50-$75 bucks and no tax and paperwork to uncle sugar.
