My Mk12 Mod1 assembled for me by the man himself, Monty LeClaire. His barrel, BCG, gasblock. From a business standpoint he shouldn't have done what he did for me but he built my rifle using components I already had along with the aforementioned parts I bought from him. This guy is the real deal and was an original participant in the development of the SPR along with building the rifles for many now famous service members in addition to playing an integral role in the development of many other SOCOM platforms so the man knows whi h way is up.
Naturally the rifle does not disappoint and is actually boringly accurate.
Here is 3 shots @300meters, 2.5".
Rounds used were my Mk262 clone load of which I've found a few, different combinations that very closely and consistently mimic the performance of the BH loading. Ive shot .21" groups with this gun and my handloads which will actually best the BH round but the Mk262 round is what this entire weapon system, and that's what it is, a system, and it always performs extremely well at just about any range. I have shot it and the BH round out to 500 meters and while I call it a success that range and beyond is, well, beyond my skills for the most part. I am however confident that with more time on the 500 meter range I and the rifle would perform better. In fact I may just have to start visiting that side of the range more often.
The gun has only a 2.5-10×44 scope, not the original scope but falls withing the same specs and kind of limits MY abilities with the gun, my eyes aren't 20 years old.
Along with that Vortex Viper PST scope it has Montys Mk12 barrel, his bcg and gasblock, BCM upper and lower, BCM LPK, Sprinco green spring w/ rifle buffer, fixed A2 stock, the Ergo grip, Geissele HSNM trigger( outstanding trigger), correct KAC rail and the Ops Inc muzzel device. So, while not clone correct in every regard it is close, the beating heart of the thing is true Mk12 goodness and alot of the other components are also correct but it is just too expensive or impossible to find some of these parts but as you can see it performs at a very high level.
It truly is my favorite AR and possibly my favorite gun period.
