My Mk12 Mod1 assembled for me by the man himself, Monty LeClaire. His barrel, BCG, gasblock. From a business standpoint he shouldn't have done what he did for me but he built my rifle using components I already had along with the aforementioned parts I bought from him. This guy is the real deal and was an original participant in the development of the SPR along with building the rifles for many now famous service members in addition to playing an integral role in the development of many other SOCOM platforms so the man knows whi h way is up.
Naturally the rifle does not disappoint and is actually boringly accurate.
Here is 3 shots @300meters, 2.5".

Rounds used were my Mk262 clone load of which I've found a few, different combinations that very closely and consistently mimic the performance of the BH loading. Ive shot .21" groups with this gun and my handloads which will actually best the BH round but the Mk262 round is what this entire weapon system, and that's what it is, a system, and it always performs extremely well at just about any range. I have shot it and the BH round out to 500 meters and while I call it a success that range and beyond is, well, beyond my skills for the most part. I am however confident that with more time on the 500 meter range I and the rifle would perform better. In fact I may just have to start visiting that side of the range more often.

The gun has only a 2.5-10×44 scope, not the original scope but falls withing the same specs and kind of limits MY abilities with the gun, my eyes aren't 20 years old.

Along with that Vortex Viper PST scope it has Montys Mk12 barrel, his bcg and gasblock, BCM upper and lower, BCM LPK, Sprinco green spring w/ rifle buffer, fixed A2 stock, the Ergo grip, Geissele HSNM trigger( outstanding trigger), correct KAC rail and the Ops Inc muzzel device. So, while not clone correct in every regard it is close, the beating heart of the thing is true Mk12 goodness and alot of the other components are also correct but it is just too expensive or impossible to find some of these parts but as you can see it performs at a very high level.

It truly is my favorite AR and possibly my favorite gun period.20171123_125653.jpg

Thank you gentlemen. I need new pics, it's still wearing the Vltor stock in these pics but I have long since converted it to the fixed stock. Y'all should see some of the looks it gets at a range, like theyve never actually seen an AR with a fixed stock in real life. Think about it, how often do you see an AR in a rifle configuration? For me it's not too often.
Oh, I forgot to add in the OP but the bipod is the old school Harris, correct model for the Mk12 as is the bipod mount. Hell, I even have two of the original Eagle slings for it as well as the original KAC sling attachment mount. Just cant bring myself to ad that cheap sling to it, that thing is friggin complicated too.

That is very nice, rifle length and clearly accurate. Your load works well with the rifle. As you say "its part of the kit" Thanks for showing.

Thanks switchback. And people say gas guns aren't accurate. And all the gungrabbers all say that these guns have no sporting purpose or no purpose at all other than to kill as many people as possible and nobody ever corrects them. Doesn't the AMU and Marine shooters use these guns? Nobody ever chimes in with stuff like this. People hunt with them, targetshoot with them, compete with them, collect them, they're no different from any other type and that just proves to me that they're full of $#!+. Sorry for the tangent.

Funny thing is with the handloads, I actually have brewed up 4 loads with the 77grSMK alone that will shoot very well in this one. Favorite powders seem to be 8208xbr, ARComp, A2520 and TAC. I'd love to have some of the magical powder the BH uses to get to 2750fps without showing ANY pressure issues. Mine are livable but they're definitely on the ragged edge.

A beautiful, classic firearm. Congrats. I love the grey, much better than all of the black. Of course, they wouldn't be "the black rifle" anymore but the grey is much more appealing to me.

Nice rifle.

Damnitman.....that's some shooting.

Obvious sweet gear.....but the hombre behind the scope is demonstrating some skills, too. ;)

Love seeing threads like this.

Thanks Dub. I always take pics because I shoot my best when nobody is there to see it. Why is this?
Just loaded up 250 more 77gr SMKs over 24gr of 2520 (the load above) and 23.8gr of 8208xbr ( another tack driver) to take her dancing again. I dont shoot this gun enough and I aim to change that. Also going to try some, now get this, 77gr Accubonds. Anybody ever seen a .224" 77gr Nosler Accubond? Me neither but I have some. Secret squirrel bullets. Man I hope these shoot. Only have 300 of them so I'm hoping one of my core of top powders produces something spectacular real quick like so I can load these up and stash them away because I'll have this rifle until my death. This bullet would make a great hunting round for medium sized thin skinned animals.

That will be a nasty round.

Shot placement will be important, but when is it not…

Nasty with a capital T. The Accubond is an awesome bullet developed I believe by/with Randy Selby, a world renowned gunsmith, rifle builder and big game hunter.

Extremely nice kit. Also some mighty fine trigger action. The trigger puller is even more important at times than the weapon. I've seen guys spend upwards of $6,000.00 and more and wonder why they can't group like that. Congrats fine piece of work.

I was talking about loading these Accubond bullets up and seeing how they shot. I did load some and took them to the range but I shot them through a different rifle just in vase something went awry. These have to be some of the longest 224 bullets I've ever loaded, I mean they are long, way longer than a SMK. Happy to report that I do see great potential here. Loaded 3 over some 2520, 3 over some 8208 and some over Varget. The Varget charge is the only one I can recall off the top of my head, 24.0gr. Talk about crunching some powder, wow but the primers looked fan-freakin-tastic! Accuracy is there too. The rifle I had is only wearing a 6x Vortex strike Eagle so at 100yds with that reticle, well let's just say it's not set up for precision but still managed a 1.2" group at that range. The Varget was a 10 round string. Was going to fire 5 in one rifle and 5 in another but spent all 10 in the Centurion Arms Carbine.
Gonna play with all three powders and shoot them in the Mk12. I expect some good things.
