Hi Shooters;
Â
Looking at the weather forecasts through next week it appears that we’re likely to still be in the current trend of very hot weather, with little chance of a break…. Then again, it’s Oklahoma weather so we may be in for an ice storm.Â
Â
Operating under the assumption that our IPSC match is likely to be another scorcher, Matt and I have decided to use the same format that worked so well for the August match. That means an early start, plenty of shooting, but slightly reduced round counts and stages designed for quick flow. In August, we ran 66 shooters through and were done by noon.
Â
So here’s the plan for the September 3rd IPSC match at the OKC Gun Club:
Â
Sign-in starts at 7:45 and we would greatly appreciate everyone’s help in getting to the range and signed in well before the walk-through.
Â
The walk-through will start promptly at 8:30. In August, there were bullets downrange at 8:45… we’d like to see that again.
Â
We will have lunch, starting about 11, maybe even a little before. Squads can rotate shooters through getting a bite to eat, but we need to keep things moving so we are not going to stand down for a lunch break.
Â
If everyone will pitch in to keep the match moving along we ought to be able to finish by noon or shortly after, beating the heat for the most part.
Â
Again, my apologies to our many out-of-town shooters -- I realize that this makes for a very early start for those driving in from Tulsa, Kansas, etc. This is not a schedule we want to keep doing, but with the fierce heat we have experienced it seems to be the best alternative.Â
Â
I’d appreciate any help in getting the word out to everyone. I’ve got a pretty good mail list, but the last thing I want to have is for someone to drive to the match… as it’s ending…. Okay, that’s second to last; the real last thing is to have someone injured or suffer heat stroke!
Â
Thanks.
Â
John
Â
My plan for setup will probably be an early morning affair on Friday as we did in August too. That seemed to work out well and by the time it was really hot, we were gone. I’ll plan on starting about 8:30 on Friday. If you are going to come help, send me an email please.
