Why don't you carry?

I know there are a lot of BoomerShooter members who have guns that don't carry and that is fine. I'm not trying to push my beliefs on someone else. Carrying a concealed weapon is a huge responsibility and one that should not be taken lightly. Each person should consider the ramifications before they decide to carry a weapon for personal protection.

I am just curious what some of the reasons are for those who have a concealed carry license but choose not to carry?

Conceal-ability? Family members? Fear? Comfort?

PS: No one is going to chastise you, just some conversation to see why we do what we do.

Court's dad got his and only uses it to be able to carry a truck gun. I've never asked why he doesn't carry on his body.

With all of the crazy stuff going on around town these days, I've been considering carrying my 3-Gun stuff all the time.

There is a guy here in stillwater that carries a gun on his body and also carries a keltec plr16 5.56 pistol in his truck at all times. That is damn smart!

I don't carry because I have a very active, unpredictable, and physically demanding job. It's just not feasible. When I go out to eat or to the movies or anywhere outside of my house when I'm not working, I carry. No reload tho.

i don't just because i do dental sales and don't want to have to deal with the gun being there on my side and more so wearing slacks and white shirt and tie buttoned up doesn't make for the best CCW gear... and yes i understand anything can happen, but i am not going into situations where i am "scared" of something happening....

i think a lot of it depends on location. a lot of places in oklahoma, you just have a better chance of something NOT happening, most of the time.

There is always a better chance of something NOT happening unless you're in the middle of a battle. But here is my thinking. Carrying a small gun in a quality holster is a very small modification to my lifestyle. So what if I have to put the gun in the glovebox before I go into the post office. Of course, the chances of needing a gun are also small, nay, infinitesimal if you are not dropping your keys in a dark alley while wearing a mini skirt every night. However, because carrying a gun is such a small change why not carry it everyday and never need it as opposed to not carry and risk the greater than zero chance of needing it. A gentleman rarely needs a pistol, but when he does he needs it badly.

Fair enough. If you want to legally carry a loaded gun in your vehicle you need a CC permit. And, truthfully , a lot of people want to do just that.

I think alot of people who dont carry everyday suffer from the misconception of "it wont happen to me"

Ben-Ben, have you ever thought about a little .380 like a Ruger LCP or Kel-Tec. I am lucky enough that I don't have to dress up very often. If I do dress in slacks or a tie, I always tend to use the smallest gun available.

maybe, dressing up and then finding a holster that won't show with my shirt tucked in and won't imprint is hard, i mean every day i work it is long sleeve white shirt and tie

I was thinking pocket carry.

However I have been very successful carrying a j-frame in my Kytac "Burk" holster with the shirt tucked (like below)

I wonder if Oklahoma will ever pass a law like Texas, where anyone can conceal a loaded handgun in their car without a permit?

im afraid mines going to go off in my pants.... wait what are we talking about again? hell i carry when im mowing the yard

My employer doesn't allow concealed weapons in the building. So as a matter of daily course I don't carry.

Additionally, I've been so busy dropping coin on competition gear, that I use every weekend, I haven't been able to set aside funds for a carry gun.

I'll be getting a carry gun Saturday, and then I will need to be taking a class and filling out some papers. Like a boss.
