AR Photo Thread

Nothing special, but I was trying to keep it simple. Got one of the Spikes and DTI kits from Cold Hand Arms. Added an Ergo Grip, Moe Handguard, NCStar fold down rear site, Aimpoint Micro dot clone (w/ riser) and CProducts mags, old school CAR15 stock. Never built an AR so this was very fun and easy. Props to Cold Hand Arms for such a good gun a a steal of a price. Upgrades I want include going to 11.5", little nicer backup site, BAD Lever, compensator (like on the FNScar but I cannot remember the name), Irene Sling.

Your AR looks great. Steve is a good guy. I need to get out there to get a few parts when the snow melts. How do you like the MOE handguard? I have thought about one of these.

Thanks, I like it. The MOE is simple but allows for a little more width in grip than the original hand guards, IMO. Yeah Steve's place is my new candy store for the AR.

This was my first AR post Obama election. It was all I could find so I tricked it out by dragging it through the cheaper than dirt catalog.

Then I found 3 gun and started turning it into my practice rifle since that bulk spam can ammo is so cheap to shoot.

Here is the bolt carrier that I had lightened to reduce recirocating mass and recoil. With the JP tank break and the lightened carrier recoil is minimal.

I actually had this finished for a while now (several months) but haven't got around until not to posting it in the S&T... The only thing I'm missing is an EOTech... Once I have that it'll be complete & I actually have one in the works so hopefully it doesn't fall through...

Just got this from Steve at Cold Hand Arms. Probably going to lose points since I didn't build this AR from scratch and instead got a completed one out of the box. Meh... won't matter because I'll still have a grin on my face shooting it regardless if it was built from parts or not

You won't lose any points from me. I've never built an AR. I changed a few grips though. Lol! That thing is sweet! Is it a piston gun? We want a full review with pics in the review section by Monday morning please. Please get some shots of the groups you lay down with it as well.

Yeah, it's a piston gun. Has 4 different piston settings, Normal, Suppressed, Adverse Conditions, and Closed. I really want to see if accuracy is noticeably different if I close the gas piston off. You have to manually cycle the bolt to charge the next round after each shot in the closed setting like a bolt action rifle.

Got mine all re-done, I wasn't planning on making it look like it came from a Magpul catalog, but I liked the stuff, and like the look now.

And yes, I know my safety is off, I store it hammer down.

LOL not a thing! I am actualy thrilled with it, and very happy with what I paid for the stuff as well. That really surprised me, and speaks to a bit of character as a company. They could charge double and still sell almost as much stuff to people who would buy it just for the name.
