I've been following this thread about the Moringa. Sounds promising with one exception the I will have to discuss with the VA Dr. I'm on a thyroid med already. It appears that is one is on meds for thyroid, you don't want to take Moringa without a consultation.
  1. For thyroid treatment: though Moringa leaves aid thyroid function, it may create problems during the treatment with any other thyroid medication.

Wow I've been on thyroid meds since '93. Before the doc found out my thyroid didn't work I felt beyond lousy all the time. Been so grateful they found it when they did. At the time my cholesterol was well over 500! Closer to 600 than 500. I take one pill a day and I feel wonderful. Cholesterol is still a tad high but on very low dose of cholesterol meds. I'd prefer to get off that too cause my short term memory is bad enough w/o any help

In the link ^^^^which does not allow copy and paste, it says most of the scientific studies to date have been with animals. Further studies with humans need to be performed.
It sounds promising, and I'm tempted to go off my thyroid meds and stay on the Moringa to see what the next blood test shows, but I'm well regulated now, and will consult with the family Dr before taking more.

I'm on a relatively low to moderate dose of .88. At least I think it's low to moderate. I've never asked. Ins covers it do I get a 90 day supply every 3 months. When they first figured out what was up they had me on .150 I was bouncing off the walls! It does a credible job doing what it needs to do and I'm very grateful for it.

I do understand your caution, however if you can it would be in your best interest to steer clear of unconventional meds from Big Pharma.
Recently I suffered Cellulitis on my lower leg, & it would be 6 days until I could see my Doc.

Cellulitis is a skin infection & needs antibiotics. I started taking Nutribiotic caps & by day six all but the dry skin was gone.
She still gave me an Rx anyway for an Antibiotic that I still have in the fridge.

My point is there are many ways to solve a problem. Gods Pharma seems to have healing agents that are filled with many good
things that Big Pharma just never understands. Drs. first pledge, ( Do no harm ) not true of many man made chemicals.

If you are over 50...get your Shingles shot! I have spent the last month finding out, the "HARD WAY", why my Dr. has been recommending it. They don't give it in a clinic or Dr. office. You have to go to a Pharmacy to get it. You've been warned. I was warned. I didn't listen and I am still paying the price. Good Luck!

I did laugh about the poster being 57 y/o.. I wish I could remember when I was that age. Wait..that'd be me, a year after I retired. I was having fun back then.

well, a thread about old folks, & I didn't comment ? Probably 'cause I'm getting old-er and missed it. I'm one who seems to have lasted past my end-date, & still hanging in there. Got medical issues like everyone ( almost everyone ?) past Medicare age seems to develop. I used to believe I wouldn't make it to 40 y /o
( & rode my m/c's like it would happen) but Wife, then our boys .slowed me down. I was in church looking around & remembered back when I was one of the youngest "adults" there..now I look around & I'm one of the oldest. I'd like to believe that If I knew I'd be around this long , I'd have taken better care of myself..but realize, that's not true, I'd still do the same stuff I did.. maybe appreciate the fun I was having more.
I do count my blessings & recognize how much grace I've received, remembering those I know that are no longer here, or have much worse medical conditions that they must deal with daily. This has been a hotter, more humid summer than I remember having..as such, I've been "shut-in" our house, thankful we have working a/c, but missing being able to visit the outdoor range, ride my m/c's, or do much more than yard work, when I can be outdoors.
Look around you & I'll bet you know someone that is struggling with greater issues than you are. Then, Pray for them. :)

My original post wasn't so much about age. It was more about how age is bringing on aches and pains from old injuries. I wrote it in a lighthearted spirit thinking I would make fun of some of my misfortune.

"Good morning gentlemen. I suppose I have my share of aches and pains at 57 (in 11 days). But, I think I may have more than average considering how beat up I've been along the way; motorcycle crashes, direct hit from an F4 tornado, head-on collision at 55 mph, thanks to a drunk driver. Now, I have back pain from 2 blown disks, and scoliosis from L2 thru L5. Doc says I need a fusion."

Please don't think I'm complaining. I'm on my feet and see life as good as long as I'm on the top side of the grass. I've truly been beat up a lot, as written above. After the drunk driver crossed the centerline and hit my vehicle head on, I didn't walk again for four years. Lots of physical therapy.

I am fortunate to be alive and very blessed. I wake up and go to work every day. My blessings are too many to list.:)
