What 1911 brands to avoid?

They are a good looking pistol with a lot of features, ie, adjustable fiber optic sights, beavertail safety, 9 shot magazine, Turkish walnut grips. They had me originally, then their poor service really turned me off. They really need to up their game if they want to remain viable in this highly competitive market. My transfer FFL just called me and said the gun came in today. I have to wait until Monday as my state has a 3gun/month "law". Having received the replacement in the middle of last month plus two other pawn shop finds won't allow transfer until Monday. Liberal gun laws are not made to reduce crime; but to inconvenience the legal gun owner. Here is a link to their site: https://gforcearms.com/firearms/handguns/chronicle-1911/

I received the replacement pistol today and I am not impressed at all. This pistol barrel while it is rifled has tool marks and chatter marks that debilitate accuracy gas sealing, will cause leading of the bore and look horrible. I will include a couple of pictures of the bore. GForce 1911 Chronicle is a dud, I am not sending this pistol back, I have paid for 3 transfers @ $30/transfer and they said they'd pay for the transfer of two but I have not seen anything. To say that I am not impressed with GForceArms is an understatement. I can't get the pictures to post..Not sure why. I did post pics here: check it out: https://www.gunandgame.com/threads/...hronicle.225781/?post_id=2878283#post-2878283

Bunch of Kimber haters here. I have 2, a 1911 and a K6S. Both go bang every pull of the trigger. I also have some cheap guns that throw a bullet downrange. Guess I have been lucky???

Wow, thank you all for your feedback on the worst 1911s. I've picked up my first, and it was a Tisa - but now I'm addicted!
I like my Tisas. I now have two Tank Commanders. One black one silver!

Never had a imported 1911. My experience with Springfield and Kimber has been good, but for over 20 years I have carried a Colt Officers ACP. Hands down, my favorite. Buy quality and never look back. Amen.

Buy quality and never look back. Amen.

After tearing down and inspecting a dozen or so Tisas 1911's by a master gunsmith friend, the word from him was that they were on par or surpassed any "quality" brand out there. Construction, components, fit & finish, the whole product. Thousands of rounds without a glitch, anything you want to feed them. I believe in buying quality 100%, but I don't believe that a pistol should be judged by it's Country of origin. I like to take them out and torture them for a few thousand rounds, then clean em, and do it again. Never mind the name. Shoot on! ( still trying to sell this Wilson)

Well since the original thread is over a year old, but people are still making suggestions, I'll add mine.
I've had 22 1911s since 1996. Some got sold off with less than a hundred rds through them, others I shot thousands. I currently have 13 1911s in different calibers 9mm, .45 and a 10mm.
I have Tisas, Colt, Springfield Armory, Alpha Foxtrot, and Kimber currently. The Kimber is a Custom shop without Swartz safety. It is fine and works great. I don't like the series II. I have owned a Baer for a short time, and many other Soringfields. I've never sold a Colt. I do all of my own fitting and adjustments.
Here is what my 30 yr experience with 1911s have taught me.
Top level semi custom 1911s
Alchemy, Nighthawk, Wilson
Below that line
Colt Custom shop
Springfield Custom (used market)

Sub 2000
TRP
Springfield Master Class series (used)
Colt Combat Elite
Kimber Custom Shop (no series II)
(I own all of these)

Sub 1200
Colt Competition series
Springfield Ronin
Bul Armory (very good fit)
Springfield Garrison (nice old school look with modern features)

Tisas seem to be the best sub 600 but I wouldn't buy one more than that. I've had three and all three needed extractor adjustment and sight adjustment. The bushings are also very loose and groups are pretty big compared to my Colts and SA.
I would never buy a Taurus 1911 and would throw it in a lake somewhere so no one I knew could shoot it if someone gave me one.
The S and W seems to be ok but I'm just not a fan of external extraction or Smith and Wesson. Not a fan of Sig or Rugers either.

The recommended brands above are probably the only ones I would consider at this stage in my life. Good luck.

The Kimber Swartz safety is the stupidest thing on the gun. It can disintegrate at any time. Plastic crap. I know. Kimber sucks. But they make nice magazine(catalogue) pictures. MAGA.
Just know not all Kimbers have the stupid Swartz and some are actually quite nice.

I have a Kimber 1911 in 9mm and it has been flawless. But I have less than 500 rounds through it.

I have 9 COLT 1911s & don't know anything about any other brands.
Do others make copies of the 1911?

I'm back in the market looking for a 1911 - do you have any countries or brands you avoid?

I've been checking out other forums and even /r/1911; I've seen several folks suggest staying away from Kimber or Taurus.
I would appreciate your feedback as I start down this path again.
I highly recommend Fusion Firearms Riptide Commander. It's entirely machined from bar stock. No MIM or plastic. Each piece is hand fitted. Mine is the softest shooting, most accurate 1911 I've ever owned.
