Just get what you want and try to wear it out as I have mine, if you but and have to start changing things you got the wrong one for sure and wave to your $$$ going away for good, this is per my past life experiences. I bet you will not keep it and lose $$$ in the process, when Glocks became popular it seemed to peak out on the trade ins. Some 1911's had to be returned to stock just to resell if easily done so, this happened to us many times, rarely did we get in a good one with no issues. Most all were allowed about 35% trade in value back then and most took our offers. Which we explained why we offered that as we had to resell them. The largest influx on 1911s traded in were on Glocks or N frame S&W 44's during the Dirty Harry time frames. A 6-1/2" 29 was then the best trade in investment you could have as almost instant resale as long as the owner left it stock and had not tried to change it.

Nobody makes carbon fiber competition triggers? Just curious.
I'll keep the Kimber, will not mess with it, don't care to. I just want to get A Sig STX. Now that I know more about 1911's. Love the triggers of 1911's! Esp. a 70 series trigger! Yes the Sig isn't a 70 series. But I want it.

Why would you wish to change it if nothing wrong?

THANK YOU ALL! I've FINALLY decided on a Smith and Wesson E Series 1911. For two main reasons. 1) It has a cool scandium frame, NEVER seen another 1911 with this rare material used as a 1911 frame. 2) The price, I thought long about the Sig STX, BEAUTIFUL gun, with the polished maple wood! And supposed to be a tack-driver accuracy wise, but it's a bit too heavy, (all SS frame and slide), and a bit too big for my hands. I'm 5'9". I have medium sized hands I guess? Anyway, it's a HANDFUL! And the Sig (And I LOVE Sig). But it's a BIG 1911! And the Sig is $250.00 more than the S&W. I'd LOVE a Dan Wesson, but they are just too much right now. I'll let you all know what's what when I get to shoot it! EXCITED!!

BTW, I got ROYALLY FLAMED, NASTY personal remarks just for TRUTHFULLY comparing the Sig STX, the Sig vs. my Kimber on the Kimber's blog. Such NASTY PEOPLE! A few came to my defense, as it WAS an accurate gun vs. gun review. WOW! NEVER going to Kimber's Blog again! Pompous pricks!
One guy said "he's right! My Kimber cannot be holstered in a LEATHER holster without the finish wearing off!" Posters words in my defense. But god help you if you say ANYTHING remotely negative, or critical about ANY Kimber on that blog!! This blog is SO MUCH BETTER!!! I've ALWAYS gotten GREAT advice here! I'm SO greatful to ALL of you helping me with my questions!!!!!! And the nastiest comment is from a guy that loves 1990 vipers. Have you ever driven that car? I have. I wouldn't EVER brag about my love for it. VERY sorry if someone here owns one and loves it. (Covering my ass).

I have three DW's and one Springfield EMP because they are accurate and reliable. Colt is OK. Remington horrible. My local gun shop stopped carrying Kimber because of what they said was a drop in quality. If you don't want to pay for a Dan Wesson, try a Springfield

Next to a wife and a waterfowl retriever, a gun is a very personal thing and if you make a mistake in picking it, it is a heck of a lot easier to trade-in for a different model! So take an old military and law enforcement veteran, avid hunter, shootist, and gun nut's advice. Don't worry about what others tell you to buy. JUST GO OUT AND BUY THE VERY ONE THAT CATCHES YOUR EYE, FITS YOUR HAND, PUTS A GLEAM IN YOUR EYES, AND MAKES YOUR HEART FLUTTER! Good Luck and remember, you will not need a divorce lawyer to rid yourself of it if you make a mistake!

Let us know how easy or hard it is to handle the recoil. The light frames give noticeably more of it than steel frames, but the stronger you are, the easier it is to shoot them.

Take a look at Ruger,
The SR1911 is a Full-Size Classic original 1911... enough said. Oh! Those of us who brush our teeth might prefer Colgate, some Crest or Ipana (do they still make that)
point being bottom line is, What You Like, don't compromise and you will be happy for a long time.

Gentlemen,
I'm TRYING to decide on three 1911's, which one to buy. ALL are, all Stainless steel, all are in the same ballpark price wise. I'm slightly leaning towards the Kimber's because of the "Match grade triggers and match-grade bull barrels", but unsure if Springfield has "match-grade triggers and barrels". Do they? That isn't specified on the Springfield. The Kimber barrels look a lot thicker (bull barrels) No idea?? So, we are talking $900.00 +- for any of the three. What would you buy?? Also, it may not have match-grade triggers and barrels, but is the Springfield as accurate? Is Springfield's warranty better than one year on the Kimber's??? How's Springfield's CS??? Kimber has been VERY nice CS! But VERY SHORT warranty. What say you, if you were buying only one? The contestants are:
1) Kimber Pro Carry II
2) Kimber Target II
3) Springfield E Series
Have a Kimber Raptor and excellent, accurate. great feel shooting, 5000 rounds no problems

$250 for 250 rounds............seems pretty reasonable to me in light of a potential two year re-supply time frame. At some point the price is immaterial and the point is to have it no matter the cost. NO ONE is being an idiot to buy it now for $1 /round before it is even more scarce (and more necessary) and it costs $5/round. I know I'm not selling any.

ALL ammo manufacturers have at least a year of backorders BEFORE they even contemplate refilling the retail pipeline. Add 6 million new gun owners, a potential anti gun idiot puppet of china and I could see it getting much higher than "a dollar a round" ........or $3 and being reasonable.

if you can't get no ammo, that new gun (or that old one that you never thought to buy ammo for until there was a run on toilet paper) is just a hammer.

to the OP....congrat's on the S&W E-series. These are very under-rated 1911's. I have shot a few that fellow shooters had at our range. Very accurate, and very good triggers. You made a good choice.

As for Kimbers....they are all over with quality. I had an older (first series...no Swartz safety) Classic Gold Match...that thing would shoot a gnat's nuts off at 25 yards! Excellent fit, and excellent accuracy. I sold it to a friends son who was getting his first 1911 (he still has it). Flash forward to a few weeks back and a fellow gun club member had a new Kimber Rapide "Black Ice". Accuracy was fine, but the fit was a bit sloppy and the trigger was horrible....alot of creep with long pre-travel, too much over-travel, and the trigger pull was very gritty. Now, these things are all easily remedied with some decent parts and a trigger job, however, comparing this current day production to my older Classic Gold Match was like comparing night and day.

You'll be well served with your new S&W....have fun!

OP, it's a tough decision to make - that first 1911 purchase. When I began it was simple, either USGI or Colt. I've never owned the S&W you post, too many changes from the blueprint, FOR ME, by all reports they function well. The plastic STI trigger? Absolutely delightful trigger, no worries there. Good luck with the S&W , welcome to the family, and don't worry, the 1911 has a way populating the gunsafe.

Raptor II. IDK, BUT it's divorce/burn thru cash for attorney time right now. Life sucks at the moment. If I had one wish, it would be to NEVER have met her!!! I'm such an idiot! NOT doing this AGAIN!! Now, it's burn thru my savings on a damn attorney.

I hear ya. Sorry the Kimber sucks, I'd be REALLY upset! I've also been hearing A LOT of bad stories about 2020 Dan Wesson's, the all SS models galling, literally the slide so stuck to the frame, impossible to move/remove the slide from the frame!! And Dan Wesson is telling these guys, it's a lubrication issue!! When these guns are dripping with oil!! One guy, he's on this forum, he has SIX DW 1911's, you think he'd kinda know how to lube a DW??? Seems like they, and everyone else is churning and kicking out crap product as fast as they can!! Screw QC!! To cash in on the gun panic buying. Not sure if now is a good time to buy ANYTHING!!

Haven't been a fan of Kimber since the first series were discontinued. I owned four and should have kept one or two.

Ohhhh, you hit a sore spot. Dealing with THE ***** from hell wife right now as we speak! Thank god we didn't have kids!! That would have been MUCH worse!! Ouch!
Sorry to hear about the divorce. Stay cool and it will pass. It will be a lesson learned. I had to pay $12k for two attorneys to get my step son divorced. That, hurt!
I'm still married, and she is great, the best! We went out for 13 years and have been married for 21 more since then. Looks like it will stay that way too.
Good luck...

I'm so sorry you had to spend so much. So sorry. And God bless your marriage. Glad you got a good one!
