Yesterday's turnout, Guns Across America

Good thing about the Internet is you can tell by people's grammar that they are idiots. That wasn't needed in your case. We now know you as a bigot and a mall ninja. Congrats.

And this is why gun owners stand to lose this battle. We aren't a unified front. The Anti's at least put away their squabbles with eachother to come together to take away our rights.

This thread is getting out of hand.

Virginia had a Lobby Day in Richmond where gun owners met their reps and discussed the future of the 2nd Amendment , the faults and good aspects of the bills pending in the Virginia Chambers. So far, it seems to be helping.
When Physical Therapists needed to put their interest in front of SC legislators they had a Lobby Day. They attended the legislative sessions and made appointments with their district reps and had face-to-face time with them. You want them to take note? Be there when they are there and speak to them in person. The key was planning and setting up teams to cover the opponents and to thank the proponents of our best interests. Members of the Physical Therapy profession treated the reps with respect and answered their questions with facts and figures. It worked. several different years for several different important matters. We didn't have the money to throw at the problems like the opposition did. We had facts and figures and knowledge to back us up. Most importantly we met them face to face.

Gun owners are as diverse as car owners. There is nothing that unifies us other than the coincidence of owning a gun. Most of us can't relate to one another.

Plenty of gun owners openly advocate anti-gun laws.

There are very, very few gun owners that are 2nd Amendment absolutists. How many of the members on this site think that it is perfectly acceptable to restrict the sale of machineguns at convenience stores? How many here think that making it illegal for felons to own guns is okay?

That's a winning attitude.

Just owning a gun isn't a unifying factor. The fact that attempts to ban several types of firearms is just a slippery slope to restricting the right to bear arms period and eventual disarmament is what should bring us together. The hunters and clay shooters and antique owners are looking towards AR/AK owners saying "Well...I'm safe." when they should be attempting to relate because if it starts here, there will be no one left to stop it when it finally gets to the people who never pitched in.

Absolutely unacceptable. Making statements like this is exactly what the Anti-Gun people want. Live and Let live libertarians like me get lumped in with bigots because of this. You should be honestly ashamed of yourself.

i didnt start the negative remarks towards anyones post.

as a christian i have the right to believe the bible which says that homosexuality is an abomination.

i am not ashamed nor should i be. im not the TV star breaking Gods law.

i am also against abortion.

for anyone that didnt get enough notice there is another 2nd ammendment rally Feb. 8 at the statehouse in Columbia.

if anyone wants to be notifed of such events i will post where to send your email address.

It should be pretty damn clear at this point that if those gun owners have any interest in continuing to own that gun, it is necessary to "get onboard" and join the team. There are a lot of Fudds in NY who couldn't be bothered to support "those icky black rifle shooters or the stupid NRA because they're not coming for MY guns" who are now scratching their heads wondering why they can't buy 10/22 magazines, why they have to register their smallbore target rifle because of that assault thumbhole stock and assault compensator, and why the cost of shotgun shells for skeet/trap is going to quadruple, or why their High Power Garand can never be loaded with a full eight round clip ever again. It will not end at 7 round mags and with semiautos in NY: sure enough, a few years down the road, 7 rounds will become 5, then 3, then 1. Pump actions and maybe levers will be the next target after the semis. After all, who needs an assault lever gun with 13 round capacity or a pump gun that can spew hundreds of deadly projectiles in seconds?

Connecticut is already considering legislation that limits the maximum mag capacity to ONE... The antigun end game is clear: Say goodbye to your 30-30s (armor piercing cop killers), bolt guns (military grade sniper rifles), shotguns (destructive devices), and all handguns.

"We must hang together, gentlemen...else, we shall most assuredly hang separately."
-- Benjamin Franklin

I have little tolerance for "Fudds" (defined as someone who owns guns but will gladly sell out the 2A so long as they think THEIR gun won't be affected; often, but not always, exclusively hunters or shotgunners who have no other involvement in shooting sports). Some Fudds are recoverable: when they see the bullshit going down in NY or Kali they realize that yes, it can happen to them. Some people don't personally care to shoot AR-15s or prefer revolvers to semiauto handguns but can see why I might want to own those ugly looking "assault weapons" -- that's ok too. A lot of it is generational, although the AR-15 has been America's rifle since Vietnam now. Some of it is ignorance -- the anti-gun lobby is full of pathological liars that spin all sorts of bullshit "common sense" proposals that in reality are significant infringements, like "background checks to buy ammo" (any guesses on what ammo in NY will cost next hunting season?).

But the hard core Fudd who continuously bleats, "oh, nobody needs those nasty things, go ahead an ban that, just leave my shotgun/30-30/bolt gun alone..." Screw them. They are modern day Tories and they hurt the cause, especially when they take public positions like "I'm a gun owner, but..."

May I have your attention please:

We had a problem before pertaining to racial and gender related comments being used. Consequently, the offender was utimately banned because he was evidently not going to stop this kind of behavior. That being said, a Zero Tolerance policy was put in place...

Now it seems that there is the other subject being broached as well- sexual orientation.

The picture was nothing but someone giving the thumbs up- yet he was then labeled and commented on. This has upset some members as their posts have indicated. We never had THIS problem come up before but it definitely comes under the Zero Tolerance policy as well. That being said, there will be NO bigotry involving sexual orientation as well now.

Enough said on the subject, please continue the discussion topic at hand.

Tigerstripe........I was supportive of your thumbs post.........We do have a first amendment so we can talk freely about the 2nd and other amendments as well as other subjects........I should be able to express my revulsion of abnormal human behavior without being lumped into the politically incorrect category...................I personally did not name anyone or call anyone derogatory names, but I claim the right by the constitution to do so!!!!

I will abide by the zero tolerance guide line if it is applied uniformly.......I was called an idiot, bigot, and a mall ninja because of my stance...I find these terms racially inclined, demeaning of my mental and moral character, and just plain mean spirited..............However, as I stated I find the author of these judgemental remarks amusing and am not terminally offended.

Now back to the topic...........A get together at Boggy Head would be good on a moderate weather day.......May be I can get some volunteers to hold up some 8" paper plates for me at 100 yards and I pay $5.00 for every miss to go toward the cause.

Just to clarify, you were only called a bigot because of your stance. You were called an idiot because of your syntax and grammar. You were called a mall ninja because you claim to practice wounding people at 100 yards or something else crazy.

I am sorry for my part in the derailing of this thread. As well I apologize for the personal attacks.

As a Christian that was not in keeping with my goal of living my life in the image of Christ. I hope we can treat everyone with respect whether we agree with their life choices or their stances on hot button topics. You don't have to agree with someone to be respectful of them.

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. -Ephesians 4:32

armaborealis, I'm glad you got the meaning behind my post and elaborated on it. I was having trouble putting the words together, but like we said (you more eloquently than I), we ALL have to get together on this, regardless of the type of shooting we do or the type of firearms we own. The Anti's will not stop when the semi-autos are gone, but will rest only when EVERYONE is disarmed.
