I'm thinking of buying this wood set for a lower build. Don't know why but I really like it.

I'm working on an ideal for the front that I think will work without going for a solid wood forend. Should be together in a couple weeks.

That's really pretty. What would you use for a forearm?

Also - would look good on an un-anodized lower, you know :)

I wouldn't mind getting that lower from you. I found the FSB, it was buried in the center console in the jeep. :) Still need it? Maybe I can use it for some value against the lower?

Sure, we can work something out. I got a slimline for the rifle that needed the FSB, but there always seems to be another lower to build up in my safe.

My set will go on my black rifle for now but once I get the nickel Teflon coated upper I get to test I'll start building a silver and stainless rifle, Then move it over to that one. The wood should be here Monday or Tuesday.

I've been trying to think of a way to do a wood free-float tube. Maybe some thin wood veneer could be glued to a DPMS free-float tube then stained??

I researched case-hardened look anodizing, and there are some folks out there, but nothing commercial that I could find.

I got a can of industrial bronze hammertone paint - needs to be oven cured and it's for industrial equipment cases so it's pretty tough once cured. Although, I'm going more for a steampunk look rather than wood and casenit.

Yeah I wish it was mine but it doesn't seem like if it was that I would want to use it for what an AR is designed for.

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd post anyway. There still isn't a manufacturer who has produced a case-hardened film. The closest thing we have seen is an oil slick pattern and it just looks multicolored like oil on pavement.

We have however had experience with dipping polymer stocks and guards in woodgrain. The results were really good, we have a sample stock as part of our display at the gun show that will be in North Charleston this weekend.
