I live near Columbia SC. I was in the Wal-Mart closest to my house today and noticed a laminated sign on their ammo case. "No More Than Six Boxes Per Customer". I was just in their this past weekend and bought some Tula 7.62x39 and the sign was not their then. Anybody see a sign like this in your area?

Walmart had those limits set back before Obummer got elected.

One shop outside of Summerville had an insider in Walmart. He was buying up every shipment they got before it got to the shelf...then, mark up the price and his store always had ammo when noone else had it for sale...and at his price.

After lots of complaints to Walmart, the company home office instutited the limits police...

Maybe it is getting that bad again...

Atp was doing it there and at dicks. They were using some business card where if it for you business you don't pay taxes. Dicks however put a stop to them Walmart put up limits.

Those limits have been around for a while. Back in VA, when you couldn't find ammo anywhere, I would buy every box of 9, 40 and 45 they had. I could always find a buyer to take it off my hands at a fair profit. The limit didn't prevent me from multiple trips inside in a day, or from making the rounds at several WM's.

The closer it gets to the election the harder it is going to be to find some calibers.
If the obamination gets re-elected stand by for a feeding frenzy.

That was the reason I got from a good friend that is a c.s.m at Summerville Walmart

You didn't buy a case at least 6 months prior to the election?

It seems like every four years there's a feeding frenzy on standard capacity mags and on common calibers. It is very predictable... I got burned in the past and just plan ahead now.

I do find it interesting that many retailers prefer to control the shortage problem by limiting the number of boxes purchased rather than raising the price. I guess many folks are "one box a year" type shooters so they'd notice a price hike more than a purchase limit.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Wally World's objective is to please the masses not to cater to the few.

Still waiting on some dealers to chime in and cater to those few...

This is one reason why I shoot mostly communist calibers. There is not as much competition for the rounds.

I have found some new 7.62*39 Russian manufactured ammo at Wall E World for about $4.95 a box, about what I pay for online and no shipping charges. The clerk gave me an odd look when I asked how much they had in the back. I explained that if I bought all they had in the case then they would need to go back and restock anyway, so why not just go back and bring me a case from the back.

No luck, so I just said give me all you got in the case then. This was several months back though. Its funny how other people react when you are buying 400 rounds of ammo at the local Walmart. Lots of stares and pointing. I told the manager, "I practice, a lot"

Um... don't shop at Wal Mart? Anyone with me here?

You cannot get a lot better price than what Walmart has on 9mm I know I have tried!!!

At ~$26/100 for 9mm 124gr FMJ, that's only a little more money than my reloads cost, with similar projectiles. I may be doing my math wrong, now that I think about it...

I expect the obvious targets like pistol ammo, high-cap mags, and mil-style rifles to keep going up until some months after the election - regardless of who wins. Fear has proven to be a very effective marketing technique.

Locally, in Columbia Palmetto State Armory (ahem) frequently has sales.
Speak of the devil, ammo is the weekend special at PSA: $10/bx 9mm, $15 for 45, $319/cs Fed 223.
I have always found myself going with Appollo Bullet in Greenville via gun shows. For occaisional supplements, Academy Sports rivals Wal Martz, but their shelves are rarely empty. Case prices on 223 are not the best in the world, but they do have a selection.

And that is for the Winn white box. Federal is less when they have it in the 50 or 100 round box like 13 for the 50 and 21 ish for the 100.

PSA is not a sponser but this weekend their PMC 45 is $14.99 and Federal 9mm is $9.99. im pretty sure the Winchester white box 9mm was $20.00/ 100 rds.

get on their mailing list and you get sales everyday. the poly lower is $39.99 and 10% off so $35.99. i called and both stores have them but only the new store will be open tomorrrow. i couldnt get a ride to go buy one.

Wal mart is also within 5 miles of the house and I pass one every day during the week. PSA is NOT near the house! Not saying that I wouldn't like it if it was!
