"No Glocks..." if you're a 1911 Fanatic ..How could you go plastic ? o_O
Too many options in 1911's ..an all steel ( or SS) Cmdr in either 9mm (or 45) seems perfect for my hand.
Shoots better too.. a Sig 226, a CZ 75, even a Taurus or Beretta 92 are better choices than a Glock.. ..IMO / experience.
I own all those mentioned, ( even a Glock 22 w/ 9mm conversion barrel) all are used / fired more than the Glock I have.
Only reason I bought a Glock was so I could form an opinion on them based on my experience, not prejudice.

Ist was a Glock 21, .. 'cause it was the only Dbl stack, hi cap 45acp I was aware of ( it is old, a Gen 2 or 2.5)
Shot a friend's & thought I should have a hi cap 45.. Later bought a Para P-14 (in SS) might not have shot the Glock 21 since then ;) .
This was years before anyone heard of a 2011 :eek:
 
I have five 1911's and four of the Glock flavor. My next investment will be a 1911 in 10mm.
Guess then I will have to buy two more Glocks LOL
 
I ask people that mention they're interested in buying a 10mm, do you hand load / reload ?
If not, might reconsider the 10mm purchase.

Because 10mm ammo is 1) hard to find 2) expensive 3) many brands of factory 10mm ammo do not produce the "true power "
of a 10mm it's more like 40 S&W +P ....

Before buying any 10mm ammo, always look at the velocity of the ammo you're buying, to see if you're getting what you pay for.. Not important if you want the ammo for it's cases, to reload to more full power loads. The hotter 10mm ammo (closer to what the rnd was designed to be,) is made by companies like Underwood & Double Tap....you'll notice this ammo has a premium price.

Many places that stock handgun ammo do not stock10mm, which means you either order it online, or buy it at a gunshop, & pay inflated prices.
My local online gun forum has used 10mm guns for sale, quite frequently, they're usually Glocks, having a low rnd. count.
My guess is because the purchaser didn't know what I've described here.

I bought the M&P 10mm to replace the Ruger Super RedHawk carried in griz country. Too heavy.

I do reload so 10mm capability's can be reached, but the bullets Underwood and others use Aren't available to reloaders.
The ammo as you said is not readily available, but those like me who are interested in not buying a plinking range gun which most do, but buying it for a designated purpose will not have them up for sale.
 
I was a "no Glock" person for a long, then I shot a couple. Skip forward, today I have 8 of them in different configurations, stacked into the same home as their 10 1911 cousins. I do like the way they shoot, and the fact that they are relatively inexpensive. They cover all of the calibers that their more expensive counterparts do. You can get used to them if you try. They're expendable.

I don't reload, but several friends do. I like my 10 because of it's power, and I have stockpiled a few thousand rounds of the "good stuff" to go with it. I guess the older I get, the more I like the "I know it's there thinking.

I thought I was in that same position, then I picked up a new mini-14, figured a non AR 5.56 was a big plus. Some rearranging and it fit. Pistols, I mounted small safes in all of the closets, kind of a "where there's a will there's a way" thing, but it is definitely getting tight around here.
 
Tried a Glock one time. Couldn't hit squat with it in competition after a lifetime of shooting 1911's.
Reason is the grip angle on a Glock is different from a 1911. So much that when coming from the draw the Glock front sight is pointing at the sky vs coming to the eye.
Just my opinion and years shooting competitions, one must chose and train with one or the other platform. Personally can't see how anyone could fluctuate between them and remain competitive.
