Looking at the weather forecast, It looks like things will be okay by Saturday â€" no bagging targets at least.  If we have heavy rains tomorrow, that will mean a miserable match setup â€" oh well, last time I checked I don’t melt â€" and probably very muddy bays on Saturday.  I may try and restrict some of the movement accordingly.  Dress accordingly… ha ha ha

By the way, the Sand Witches will be there to serve lunch to those who so desire.

Thanks.

The number of people on my squad taping and resetting steel was a pitifully low number, and I wish I had shot with a different squad. I'm not sure how many of my own runs I had help to reset the stage, but it was way too many.

Ya gotta speak up. The RO should prod the slackers. When I RO or keep score, I yell "tape 'em up please!" when scoring is complete.

What can you say some folks are just lazy! I may not paste or help reset EVERY shooter BUT I help with more than my share, it's just part of shooting these matches and it makes it so much faster!

I guess what could be done is to flag the non-paster or the ones that don't like to help but put holes in targets and next match add a couple bucks to thier entry fee for pasting services :13: Later,

Kirk

I always feel lucky to be with the shooters on the same squad as me. We all do a good job of getting out there and getting the stuff done. Sometimes I'm a little slow and someties someone else is discussing stuff with a fellow shooter but we all get in there most of the time. I can't thank the guys enough for covering for me. later rdd

Ive never been on a squad that wasnt on the ball. Well, locally anyway. Ive shot a few Majors where that wasnt the case.

Just everyone who is taping right before its time for the non-tapers to shoot, get together and decide not to tape. Then they can tape targets before they get to shoot. :). Seriously, the RO should speak up. That usually fixes it except for real slugs. A lot of times, someone might just caught up in a conversation and not realize they need to help out. An RO calling out fixes that.

Last month, my squad taped just fine, but several times when I was on deck, I was trying to go thru the stage one more time as they were taping, only to bump into guys that had already shot the stage helping someone who was coming up 6 shooters after me. That's just downright rude.

It was the least fun I've ever had at that match.

It's the experienced shooters responsibility to educate the new guys.

Thanks to Matt & John for another great match despite the conditions!

Yeah I hate shooting with Burki, Chambers and Andersen too. Ever since they shot thrir first MAJOR match they went big timer on us. Now they not only don't tape but they make me go first and win too. It gets old!

Nice job on HOA coolio!

Seriously though with all the newbies we have joining us every month you have to teach them about taping and resetting. I know when I started it took me about 6 months To realize there was something to do other than worry about shooting myself when it wasn't turn.

I always go tell them face to face that taping is the most important thing they can do RO not look like an FNG. One conversation usually does it. Just be polite and helpful.

You can try to prevent this by putting it out at he range/safety brief. Then there is no reason for someone not to past especially if the seasoned shooters each grab a new shooter and take them down that first stage. Only problem I seen with turning new shooters lose is they may want to tape before the scoring is finished - just have to watch. Usually after the first stage all is good. With new shooters it is just getting them over the newness of it all or, so I think anyway.
Now, the lazy no good snake in the grass; well I am sure each has their own way of dealing with them.

A couple of things, I am a newbi and I taped, sometimes felt more than the oldies. But also there were some newbi's that just walked around but did nothing so I see some point but I would say it was equally between the old and new! Also on a side note on the okcgc web site for the scores, what are those four boxes in the middle of the score sheet?
