I try to verify my targets, but I don't usually verify my time.

I hope nobody is intentionally increasing my scores because then that means I'm not actually getting any better and I still suck.

And I hope others aren't cheating either because then that means they suck.

See, if we had time+ scoring, where everyone could know anyone's final stage score based on the scorecard, instead of using a scoring method that requires everyone's scores and two layers of fourier transformation in order to deduce a final score, this wouldn't be so much a problem.
