Nothing wrong with the idea of a glock with a dot, it's the whole "let's make a new division for it" thing that people aren't digging. Just like limited 10.....why? For the restricted states? That doesn't make any sense because any match in those states will have all limited Shooters on a level playing field. And for classifiers it doesn't matter if you have 10 or 20 in the mag.

What division would you put an M&P core with a red dot in?

I blame Instagram for carry optics....
It's funny when red dots and double stack 1911's first hit Ipsc their were up against single stack 1911's. Imagine the ass kicking the guy who had the first red dot and didn't have to reload once at nationals that year gave to everyone.

Turn the page to 20-25 years later and now you see red dots on every gun not just crazy weird not used for anything but racing open guns and everybody is losing their elephant dung over them online but the only guys who don't give them any respect are members of the gamer group that first broght the red dot to the pistol.

Apparently, carry optics. But without the newly created division, it'd go in open.

I'd like to add a dot to my 2011 but not have to spend all the money for a full on open gun, Let's make limited optics. You could even add a magwell to your dot glock and play too

I'm with you there. The difference between a M&P or Glock with a race trigger or an EAA or CZ with any trigger as compared to a 1911 isn't what it used to be. Single action is still the shortest/lightest but that 1/2-1lb difference is winning/losing matches for anybody.

I'm just saying, I'm not hatin' on them at all. Just never saw the need for a whole new division for them.

There is definitely an advantage over iron sights so they don't fit in production. You know all is gamers would ditch the irons for a dot if it gives any advantage.

They won't stand a chance against full on major power factory .38 super race guns in open. Heck even a 9mm major Glock open gun doesn't do well there.

So what's a guy to do? If they are allowed in production Id bet $100 that within 2 years nationals is won with a red dot not irons. And I'd bet $1000 nobody finished top 20 with one in open.

I don't disagree but they've been making factory ported barrels forever to mitigate recoil. No new division was ever created for these, they have to shoot in open. Are we going to now have a carry comped division for these guns?

They should just let them compete again production guns for a year at level 1 matches and see if the gamers all make the switch and start winning the club matches in production.

The average B or C class guy with a red dot Glock isn't going to beat Ben Stoeger or even most local Master class guys with irons anyhow.

honestly, I don't give a elephant dung what anyone else wants to shoot as there's a match I can go to.

I'm just trying to explain why people are so against it.

I want a red dot on my limited gun so I can see either the front sight or the target.
Bifocals suck.
