Unload Show Clear with Shotgun

What's the procedure with this? Just rack them out of the tube? If its grounded, does RO clear it? I'm sure I'll get all this in the safety brief, but I'm wondering now. 19 more days!

It depends on the match. A lot of matches say the safety must be on and the gun in a dump barrel OR the gun must be clear of both tube and chamber. The bottom line is if the gun is empty and the safety is on nobody will argue with that

It depends, don't worry about it. Someone will get the rounds out of the shotgun somehow, it will most likely be you, all methods are acceptable except for shooting them out.

Most shotguns have a shell stop that let's the mag spring back the shell out of the tube

Push the carrier up .... Your looking for a leaf spring thingy that has a nub on it... It's parallel to the loading port and the nub lines up at the mag tubes mouth and keeps the shells from backing up under normal operation


1 safety on... Pointed in safe direction
2 push up carrier... Push shell stop in
3 recover the live shells as they back out
4 clear chamber and install chamber flag if one is required

I guess what I'm wondering, am I allowed to touch it after it's grounded to clear it, or does the RO have to do it. I'm sure, if I finish with it, I would clear it. I know it's probably a dumb question, but I like to be as prepared as possible. Thanks!

In my experience when clearing guns in 3gun is when going back to retrieve a weapon don't touch it until you r told to do so. Walk up to barrel table buck stand there until u told to unload and show clear

This guy has obviously shot a bunch of big matches cause he's 100% correct.

Just like the load and make ready command you kinda stand there looking over your shoulder waiting for the RO to tell you to do something.

Thanks, everyone, I was just wondering what to expect. I'm really pumped aboutthis first 3 Gun and don't want to do anything stupid. Well, back to wrasslin with this quad load business! It could be going a little better...
