This is new. I don't like it.

Wait till you hear about what GE and Honeywell are developing for your thermostat in your house.

The goal is to have all thermostats to be controlled from a central location. It is past prototypes. And I am not talking you controlling the temperature. The news isn't out yet.

Is this what you are talking about?

This sounds like a bit too much intrusion.

"thermostat's" not "meter's"
They want to control the temperature in your house.

so, what is their reasoning that we should hand over the control of our thermostats to them?

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
My wife was talking about a program from Berkeley Electric Co-op that gave them control of your thermostat . I'll have to ask her about the details. I just rejected the idea out of hand.

Just one more measure of control they have over us. When you're addicted to power, nothing is too trivial to dominate.

I've had bosses that resemble that remark.

I was wondering how they're going to sell it to the consumers. We're powerful and you're a peon *evil  laugh* doesn't really seem like a good marketing strategy.

I think their strategy is more in line with the nanny state of affairs. "Let us take care of you; rely on us to make all your decisions for you while you're engrossed with your social networking sites on your latest, flashest electronic fancy pad. Don't worry about anything, just keep doing what pleases you and we'll take care of the rest..."

We are in a state of automated, engrossing and consuming technology...what do we need to think for anyways? There's an app for that!

Ah, yes, the world in which we are docile and too caught up in shiny pretties to notice where we're being herded. Soylent sheeple anyone?

They have already taken over.
Look at the obamination and think Billy Ray Cyrus.
The only difference difference is the obamination can't lead, Billy Ray could actually sing.

My wife says "They will control my thermostat when hell freezes over"

I guess I'm not the only one that is noticing the "FED EX driver" is up-shifting, to gain speed.
