Suggested Shotshell Velocity

What should I be looking for in a 12g shotshell velocity for 3 Gun ? I see everything from 1165fps Fiocchi to 1205fps Federal to 1290fps Winchester XX and my mission is to find the softest shooting load that will do the job.

I'm figuring that 7-1/2 shot size with 1-1/8 oz will work well at the lower velocities on steel but I could be wrong in my assumption.

Both my SuperNova and my Stoeger M3000 digest all 3 of the above examples...

Suggestions welcomed.

I'd stick with 1200fps 1 1/8oz or faster/heavier in the Stoeger.
In the supernova I run everything including the Winchester 980fps low recoil low noise shells On clays a s close/large steel.

i use 1200fps for local matches. For big matches I use Winchester AA 1200fps. I use 7 1/2 shot for both.
