Storing Guns in your Car

Trying to find ways of keeping my guns more secure on trips and such. I don't like the idea of taking them in and out of a hotel with me if it's more than an overnight stay, and may take them with me on a week long trip this summer where I won't be able to keep them anywhere but in my vehicle. Thought about getting a Pelican, or similar style case like a Boyt, and putting the guns in there, and cable locking the guns into the vehicle or something. Also thought about trying to find a toolbox, or storage container that I could bolt down in the back of my Sequoia and lock, or maybe just making one..

Any ideas would be great, really need to get a sturdy case for my Savage, so need ideas there, and also on the whole vehicle security side of things.

Thanks.

If you go to an police action you can get the racks they store there AR's and shot guns in really cheap. There was a guy here in kansas that bought 3 or 4 of them for 100 bucks. They where the ones truck lid

A simple redneck version for a pistol is a simple cable lock and run it through the trigger guard then through the seat bracket. Easy in easy out

Cable lock through the action and around the trunk hinge.
They will have to remove the hinge to remove the cable. Buy the cable that has a very high tensil strength, or a hardened link chain. A bolt cutter will not cut them, but they can cut through the hinge.
You can't stop the theft if they are determined, but you can slow them down.

Ask a group of people from 3 gun nats two years ago about storing long guns in their vehicles over night. Lets just say it didn't end well. Be that guy that's carrying his gun bag into casinos in Vegas been there done that I fell better if they r with me. Cars r too easily broken into

You can't just do it. Check ahead of time with websites that deal in this. Different states have different laws. Be sure to be legal.

Its an easy search on Google.

I always travel with my sidearm. I always put it in my luggage with a lockable hard case by Plano. It goes into my hotel with me. When I was on the road working cases my sidearm and rifle always went into my hotel with me at night.

I work security at a Casino here in Lawton. We do not slow guns on the gaming floor or the hotel. However, we made an allowance for people in town for the Mo Betta quail hunt this past weekend. Hotels will work with you if they think they will lose business.

I've never had an issue at a hotel. Put a bunch of music stickers on it and they will think its a guitar.
Some guys at SHOT show had to check their guns with security at some hotels. I walked through the Lobby and casino 3-4 times in my jersey with a shotgun bag in hand and my voodoo rifle bag on my back. Never had anyone ask about anything.

Yeah, in Vegas it depends on the hotel. In 2011 at the Wynn, the casino security made us check our guns into the vault. In 2012 at the Mirage, I asked the Concierge about this, and was told, "We don't really care as long as they're cased. Just take 'em up to your room."

I would never leave a gun in my car overnight, unless there was just no other option.

Jesse.... they didn't stop you because of your rockstar glasses :)
Have you been to Vegas? They have style and fashion there. The guys wearing Rudy Project and Oakley Razor Blades get stopped for goofy pictures. Normal people wear designer sunglasses there.

I've not been in and out of as many dirty motels as some of you guys, but I've never asked about their policy and I've never had any hotel staff say anything to me about it.
