Anybody have some steel targets for handguns, or anyone who can make some?

let me know your price....

I just made my own for handguns/.22 and I bought some AR500 targets from "qualitytargets" on ebay for a really good price.

Went to Local welding shop and they gave me 1/4" and 3/8" regular steel scrapes...Then went to lowes and bought 3 saw zaw 21 tooth blades, chain, 1/4" shackle, and a carbonite 3/8" bit. I cut three targets...Took about 30 min of actual cutting and only used two blades. I cut a 2x2", 5x5", and a 8x8". It was harder to drill the holes than it was to actually cut the steel. I have used them for .22 at 100 yards, 200 yards and I used them for 9mm around 25 yards. Didnt even phase it.

I got a 10" circle out of AR500 so I can make a light weight stand to take out to to the long range. We only have steel at 600 and 800 and want to dope my rifle in at a few different distances.

What did you use to hang the targets at 25 yards? I will be shooting at it with a 9mm.

Thanks for the tips, do you know the people at the welding shop or did you just stop in and ask?

I used straps at first but quickly realized it was flying over the hanger so I had to go back and get the heaviest chain I could get along with shackles. With the 9mm I can also only use the 8x8" because along with the chain its the heaviest. It still fly's back pretty good so I need to come up with a better design for the hanger because if you are doing quick follow up shots its moving way to much.

I knew the owner but all he did was look on the floor behind the water jet cutter and give me rusted scapes. He was just going to throw it out anyway. I'm sure any shop will give you scrapes. If not, lowes sells 12x12" 1/4" for $20

So I went to a welding shop down the street from my house and they hooked me up with 2 8X8in plates that are 3/8in thick. I had them them punch a hole in each one and the total cost for was $20.

I went out and shot them yesterday and handled every pistol caliber I shot at them. Here is how I hung them.

I went to Wal-Mart and bought two iron garden hooks, they were $6.00 each.

The poles took a direct hit from a .45 and held up just fine. Also quick follow up shots were pretty easy with this setup.

Next I am going to be ordering a couple of AR500 plates from that guy you sent me to on Ebay. So I can shoot my AR15 at them.

Thank you Henry for all of your help!

I would be more concerned how the siding and the neighbors' siding would hold up moreso than the $6 stands.

Well actually when I shoot it with the 9mm, after it hits the plate, the bullet is sent straight into the ground. To be honest I have no idea where it goes when I miss :(

Just kidding, I just set it there to take the picture.

I can weld up targets/gongs/flip up & down/ no problem. Let me know how you want them hung, shape, thickness, etc. I can't do aluminum but I'm sure you want steel, Charleston area. [email protected]

If you're in the upstate, there is a pawn shop in Shelby NC that sells ar500 steel targets. I picked up a torso sized target and stand for either 80 or 90 bucks. The large size is fun at long range as well as up close with a pistol. They are angled well too. Name of the shop is American Tactical and Pawn.
