BRIEFING: Stage 4 (OKCGC 3-gun match) had some medium range rifle shots followed by some pistol work. After grounding the rifle, shooter was to engage the pistol targets from between the t-posts (about 5 feet left of the dump barrel).

ACTION: After dumping my rifle I drew my pistol and engaged all 12 targets from where I stood. All I needed was to take about two steps sideways to get in between the t-posts.

RESULT: 12 procedural penalties!

LESSON: Pay attention to the stage briefing and also to the shooters in front of you.

PS: in a not-unrelated note. STAY HYDRATED even if you think you are. Dehydration results in lapse of concentration. Lack of concentration is not a good idea when handling firearms. Not an excuse for my failure to follow the stage briefing, but still good advice

I don't know about you, but I'm sure my lack of attention comes from years of being married.

Was there not a specified firing position for the pistol?

I was awarded 11 procedurals for what I believed was improper firing position. I thought the RO said it was for not being between the posts?

Tony.

And don't feel so bad Burk, I got 9 procedurals for shooting on the move on stage 2.

I was Ro'ing & the rest of the squad said "Hey he's supposed to be between the post" & I said ok I guess we're supposed to be between the posts. I didn't say anything about the posts or procedurals until the other guys in the squad said we were supposed shoot from between them. If it was just 1 person saying it, I would've went & verified, but there were several so I took it as fact. The shooters before him shot from between them, then of course the shooters after him did too.

See what happened here is someone ****ed you. You missed it in the walk through because it wasn't there. The only thing free at the make ready pro shop is make believe procedurals. Lots of them.

wow, sorry you feel that way Jake, I didn't realize you had a problem with the way I do business.

Again, I was completely fine with his shooting until I was talked into it by most of the rest of our squad.
If the numbers hadn't been so overwhelming, I would've went & checked.
I screwed up. If I wasn't sure, I should've checked, no matter what. Sorry Burk.

Feel better now Jake?

Sorry if I hurt you feelings Tony. I found it pretty funny you hit poor Burk up with 11 failure to do rights and then he made a thread about it only to find out it wasn't a penalty at all.

stage descriptions were in squad buckets.
This is everyones and no-ones fault, all at the same time.
Ill make shooting positions clearer from now on.
Someone took that fence down, cause it was upwhen I started the stage.

And Jake's just f-ing with you, Tony. No one thinks youre anything but an asset to the shooting community. Dont take it like that.

and Mitch, your's were pure brain fart.lol.

The title of this thread should be; "if you think something wasnt scored properly, then tell the RO that you want to talk to the MD, and if youre not that adamant about it and not sure, then take your lumps"

and close this thread. and clean it up.

Sorry Burk.
No problem buddy. I wasn't complaining by any means. I actually thought I committed the procedurals and was posting in the match mistakes about how stage briefings are important.

Its all good. It would only move me a spot or two and I am not worried about that. I'm just glad to know I am not a dumb ass after all! (somebody can run with that comment if they want to)
