Spikes lower question

I was putting build together. I noticed on the safety which had felt a tad loose.,. The detention hole has a 4-40 thread for a set screw . So I shortened the spring about 1/4 inch bought 4-40 set screw put it in no more loose safety. I had installed am I safety.

You are fine if it functions. Shortening the spring seems odd, but maybe your set screw is long.. The threads are for a set screw, so that when you take the grip off you don't lose the spring and detent. All detent holes on all lowers should be so well designed.
