SPECIAL MATCH JANUARY 29th

First match and ready to go! Will be shooting my xdm. Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning a lot.
 
I'm still planning on being there. I get off shift at 4:00 and should be there around 5:30 for sign up. I'm bringing a buddy who's a cadet in the OCSO Reserve Academy.
 
Last time we finished around 10:30. Hopefully it won't run that late tonight. That's way past my bedtime.

about 10:45 when I started my car up Dennis. I lilke to see folks getting into this sport... but wow! Lot's of first timers tonight. A few new ladies too.

I heard that Federal Call Center had a record day just before Christmas on firearm background checks...we can only hope some of these people VOTE.
 
I had an awesome time! This was my first match of many more to come. I think that I did okay given I can't tell if I hit the target everytime or not, my eyesight is ehhh. Thank you to everyone that gave me guidance. Can't wait for the next one...and the next one... and the next one... A lot of practice will go a long way.

Since we finished up so late, I wouldn't look for scores until tomorrow. They will be in the match results section under Heartland.

Had a good time, and first time shooting from concealment.........and won my first Heartland certificate!
 
Had a great turn out!

I modified the stages to run a bit faster, but you can only do so much. One squad ran a little slow on the last stage, but we can trim off 10-15 minutes if everyone pitches in to clean up and put things away.

We WILL have a match next Sunday, even tho it's the Super Bowl. It's only the Giants and Patriots, anyway.....

Stages will be different, so hope to see you there!
 
Ok the whole null thing just showed up one day every time I post something I started seeing it.. I did not think anyone could see it. I guess I will get on a real computer and see if I can fix it, cause I only boomer shooter with my iPhone.

Hey David! I had a great time. Even won the snubby division! But I thought more people signed in under snubby besides me and "that one lady".


P.S. I wont call you "that one lady" if you bring cookies. ;)
 
Yea, that was a lot of people, I got there a little late and thought, "Maybe the range is still open as well"...but seriously its awesome to see so many new people getting involved, I mean, thats what its all about. I also got ot shoot my first match without a tech malfunction ruining my scores. So I did a lot better than I usually do, and for everyone, Im not usually that fast, the doctor has me on steroids for my ankle, so Im the sammy sosa of heartland...sorry, didnt read the part where it said no performance enhancing drugs allowed...lol
 
The "one lady" and I had to leave early so no scores on the last stage. You did shoot that snubby nice. Put you some CT grips on it and shoot in PDL division next time. Shannon turns hers off at the match, I like mine on both the snubby and a PM9 I shoot sometimes. David E made a slick appendix carry holster for both. Shooting is gaining in popularity which is a good thing. It's tough running 50 shooters thru on 2 bays. I'm sure we will have the same issue next Month at the super classifier at H&H but we will just do the best we can. It really helps when everyone takes turns at taping, resetting, etc. Some nice stages last night David. Those little poppers worried me so I hit 4 out of 5 on the first shot, then threw two misses high right on the giant paper. I think shooting a carry gun from concealment is great practice. You learn from your mistakes and the penalty is not as severe as it could be in the real world if you ever need to defend yourself.
 
Mike, that's exactly it.

Shooting a match, any match, with your primary defense gun is a good thing. A match brings out things that practice alone will not.

We had at least 6 new shooters, tho one of them was a face from the distant past. Nice to see him shooting again !

Looks like it was a huge match. Sorry I couldn't make it. Glad to see a bunch of new shooters. This is THE match to be at if you want to practice with your carry gun!
