Are there any matches that would require a long gun to be slung? I think I have a solid beginner rig, but would hate to show up and stage description read, "Standing with both hands relaxed to your sides, shotgun slung diagonally over right shoulder, with super extra large bolt handle digging into left kidney..."
You get the idea.

Task force dagger (tfd3g.com) is coming up in June in GA. Every single stage requires either your shotgun (2 stages) or rifle (7 stages) to be slug while you get busy with your other long gun. It's a good practice to have a sling with your gear because you never know when you may need it. I've been using my sling in matches for the past two months and I have to say.. it is a hinderance and a blessing at the same time. Mag changes on rifle with a right sling are something I need to get used to.. the same with going support side (left shoulder) from a sling.

If your looking for a good sling to use I recommend the Troy Vikings Tactics Vtac adjustable 2 point sling. I love mine and use it on my AR all the time. I have used a lot of different slings in the military and different configurations and I like this one the best. But everyone is different! Good luck.

Any match Andy Horner is the MD, Rocky Mountain and FNH usually require a sling. Club matches usually just have guns staged on barrels or tables because the stages are smaller and staging guns isn't as time consuming.
