Ok, I've got a mixed bag of questions. I went out to the 3 gun match this weekend and watched. Unfortunately, like I was told by several people prior, I would be mad if I didn't shoot. Well, it looked like a blast and I will be at the next one ready to go. I did learn a lot about what I need to work on and practice. Long time shooter, but 95% of that has been trap, skeet, and sporting clays, much different than 3 gun.

So that brings me to my first question. Is there anywhere I can go to practice this kind of shooting? I can go to banner or H&H or Heartland, but they all have there limitations. I would love to get a membership at one if the clubs (OKCGC or Tri-Cities) but both have, from what I have heard, long lead times on memberships. TriCities would be great since its only 15 minutes away.

My second question comes to competitions at both of the mentioned clubs. Are all the competitions open to non-members? I saw in OKCGC that they had 5 stand and skeet competitions as well as pistol and rim fire competitions. I was wondering if these are open to "outsiders" like the 3 gun match was this weekend.

Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to participating (I won't call what I will be doing competing). :)

I enjoyed meeting a lot of you this weekend. I was impressed at how friendly everyone out there was and I look forward to the next time.

OKCGC only seems to have lead-times in terms of orientation dates. Keep up with their website, or this site, to find out when an orientation is scheduled. It's the only place around OKC to do the fun stuff, unless you know a landowner.

Email the membership director at okcgc ASAP and get on the wait list. There may not even be one. As far as clays events I'm not familiar with them enough to know what's even available. Most competitions at the club ate open to the public though.

yeah i would email them, almost all comp. at OKCGC are open to public.... the best way to practice 3 gun is to............ shoot the matches!!!

I got in at the last orientation..they said it was the last of the year..the first one this year was in Feb I think....

Complete your app and get in line..well worth the wait. Otherwise you can meet up with current members to go with them to practice occasionally..

Not sure about tri- city

I don't think Tri city allows you to draw and run around at their club. So OKC gun club is the only range that you can really work on this stuff.

You can do like Chambers and Rusty do and just shoot every match every weekend and get really good really quick with minimal practice.
