This came from John Bent in my email, and reminds me of the TDSA debacle, so I'm sharing it here.

"Hi Folks;

Do you enjoy the shotgun sports? 5-Stand? Sporting Clays?? Wobble Trap??? As solidly supportive of the shooting sports as Oklahoma is â€" generally â€" there are very few venues for things like sporting clays â€" something that can be enjoyed at all levels of play.

One such excellent place is Quail Ridge, operated by Dave Martin. Many of you may remember them as being located in Tecumseh; they still use that area for hunting, but about a year ago they moved to a location east of Moore (couple of miles east of Air Depot). That makes it very convenient for Oklahoma City area shooters to get out and play.

The city is trying to move them to a different location a few miles north, and it’s something Dave wants too. There will be more options for growth and expansion and he hopes to make it a venue to host more events. It’s a win-win.

BUT…….

The planning commission moved their permit application forward to city council without approving or denying. It goes without a recommendation. The city council meeting is Feb 19. With luck, they will approve the application and Quail Ridge could be moved and operating in short order after that…… or closed down, potentially, if the planning commission denies their application. There are some folks who are vocal in their opposition to having such a shooting facility around, so it is not “smooth sailing” or a done deal by any means.

Those who support Quail Ridge could lend Dave a hand by sending email to the following city leaders:

[email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected]
Please include your home and/or business address. All are welcome to attend Planning Commission meeting
Here’s a chance to help â€" Quail Ridge is a great venue for shotgunning. It would be a shame to see it cease to exist or have to move back to Tecumseh. It’s a well-run local business that needs your support.
Thanks!
John Bent"

Quail Ridge Sporting Clay's new proposed location is less than 1 mile from a neighborhood that
has existed for 20 plus years. A new sporting clays place would be great for everyone except the
neighbors who will hear 20,000 to 35,000 shots per tournment, No one in any of the affected
neighborhoods oppose a shooting facility, it just should not be within ear shot of a neighborhood.
There is TriCity Gun club that is 4 miles further south from Quail Ridges current location at
SE 149th Street. They have skeet now and could support sporting clays.
Please think about how you would feel with having a sporting clay facility next to your neighborhood.
I think it's a great sport. I just don't want to have to hear it for the next 20 years.

Thank you

So you are saying that you are not from the affected neighborhoods and just want to make your opinion known?

No kidding. What about other kinds of noises? Like a road.
My local sporting clays club is right next to an affluent neighborhood...but from inside that neighborhood, you can barely hear the shots and only if youre listening for them. You can, however, hear the local racetack that is much further away (but they only race at night)
