Prize Table Discussion

Lets cut the bullshit, shall we? You guys buy the jerseys so you can look like a sponsored shooter, like someone actually paying you to wear it.
The fact that you get a drawing at some cool elephant dung at the end of the year is just a cherry on top.
Yup

Yes, but you make that sound so.....cheap.

This is why Mike makes Dr. Phil look like he don't know elephant dung.
That's the way I like it tell it like it is, and if you don't like the truth sorry.
I think the way it is is just fine, and not because I have ever won anything good but because the program ended up doing just what it was supposed to. Get the sight out there and recognized, people talking about what happened on Boomer on other sights and so on!! I am not saying everyone's ideas are stupid. I am just saying it looked like the program worked like it should.

We're back at it this morning. Waiting on the first pick to show up!

Fact is - there is no easy way to do this - we mulled over having everyone send in forms with their picks on it. But guess what - I asked everyone to send in their contact info and most people couldnt figure that out. Some folks sent it in 4-5 times. Some sent it in and didn't even buy a jersey. And some didn't send it in at all.

Fact is - its not like everyone is in one location and available at the exact time / date to get on a live drawing. This program reached over 20 states - and multiple countries. There is no guarantee that everyone could be on at the same time for the drawing and I'm not going to pass someone up because 1 or 2 guys are being jerks and can't wait a day or two for their prize that they WON.

And mull this over - what's more valuable to a sponsor - 1 shooter who shoots 50 matches at the SAME clubs every month with the SAME 75 other shooters or 1 shooter who shoots 20 matches at 15 different clubs with 75 different shooters every week? We are not going to change the drawing system and weight it. We did that one year with major match finishes and it got almost no participation.

BTW if anyone knows "CHICARA67" tell them its their turn. They haven't been on in a couple months and I never got contact info for them. I'll give them 24 hours before defaulting to the highest value prize and on to the next person

I wouldnt worry to much about it Brandon, I am happy with the way the system works and the opportunity to support the sponsers by wearing the jersey at matches, and getting a chance at cool stuff in return is awesome. So what if it takes a few weeks to get the prize stuff sorted out, time I have (its money I dont). Looking forward to this years jerseys and participating again.

I think that there should be a rule that if your name is Steve or Garrett, you will not be allowed under any circumstance to select a TDSA AP1 certificate!

Steve's nee

That really isn't a compliment to Mike. Dr. Phil doesn't know elephant dung. We should give Mike an honorary degree and refer to him as Dr. MC.
^^^^ Is this his Rap/street name? ^^^^

You may have been referring to those folks complaining about the drawing system, and if so, that may very well be correct. If, however, you were lumping everybody into that category, you're wrong. I went out of my way to shop at H&H and I ordered from Freedom Munitions simply because they support this forum that has provided me with access to lessons learned from more experienced competitors. I wear a Glock shooting sports shirt at matches right now not because I want people to think I shoot for Glock, but because I love the brand and want to support it as much as I can. I know I'm only speaking (typing, I guess) for me, and my purchases are certainly not going to make up for the amount sponsors spend on advertising with this site, but I will wear the shirt to advertise for companies that put out products or services to do my part to keep this site growing, not to look like a pro. My shooting will do that for me.

Okay, that last sentence was a bit of a stretch. You are right about free elephant dung being a nice bonus.

If there's no desire to look at the ratio of 1 entry per 5 matches, I do have one suggestion.
Please don't take this as a criticism. It's just something I thought of while looking at the final entry matrix.

It would be nice if there were a way to make sure people's entries are separated by at least 10-15 spots on the final numbered list.
When someone has two of their entries listed close to one another, it decreases the value of the entries.

Let's say there are 10 high value items on the prize table. In theory, each of your entries gives you 10 chances to win one of those items under this system. So if any of your numbers are separated by fewer than 10 spots, you lose chances to win.

One example from this year is Micah Rowe. He had entries 220, 221 and 223. Instead of 30 chances to win one of the 10 high value items, he would have 13 chances. He could have shot 10 fewer matches with pretty much the same odds of winning a high value item.

Of course, it's always easy to make suggestions that result in more work for someone else. So let me say that I'd be happy to help set up the list next year to make sure that entries are separated by at least 10-15 spaces.

Just an idea.
