Precision One Ammunition Question

Spg1 said:
I recently put 50 rounds of Precision One through my HK USP 9mm. About every 4th or 5th round failed to cycle properly. I will never buy it again.

I haven't tired it in a different pistol or tried this brand in any other calibers.
What brand do you normally feed your H&K? Has it ever had a similar problem with any other brand? When you say "failed to cycle properly," what do you mean? Problems ejecting, chambering, or what?

What prompted you to buy the P-1, and where did you actually buy it? Could it be someone reloaded some P-1 and sold it to you, or sold you something else in a P-1 box?

Thanks everyone who supports us. I believe this guy is either another dealer or someone similar of such nature. If he has a problem, like fortune said, he would have called if the problem was of major concern. How could every fourth or fifth round have an issue. The odds are way up there. I could see round 4. Then 7. Then 2 then 12. Then 2 ....so on and so on. They would be sporadic not consistent.

If I am wrong please let me know.

J

Not sure if that guy is a troll, but he seems suspicious.

A buddy of mine fired 500 rounds of 40S&W from P1 in a Walther without any issues. I have fired 500 rounds of 223 in 5 different AR15's (one has a portion of the gas ring busted) and there were no cycling issues and accuracy was very good. If a better shooter was there, they could have gotten better groups.

Handled, shot, and was given some P1 .223/5.56 ammo over the weekend. The only reason I knew it wasn't Lake City like the headstamps said, was because it was a hell of a lot NICER than factory LC ammo! And this is coming from someone who has shot tens of thousands of brand new Lake City 5.56.'

Jeff I'd be happy to lend you my HK USP in 9mm to do an eval on your ammo. I could even pull the trigger a few hundred times if you need an extra body to help out!

I agree - it smells like troll in that guys one and only post

I've had a few FTF (even when restriking the primers) in P1 9mm. Not enough to be statistically significant, and I'm pretty sure the primers aren't made by them. Upon pulling the round down, the primer looks like no priming compound. Powder burned in free air just fine and the case and projectile looked OK.

So, yes, just like any other manufactured product, there is some small statistical error rate. But nothing that you wouldn't see from say Winchester White Box.

Every 4th or 5th sounds like a firearm issue or just plain trolling.

I've shot several different handguns using different ammo, pistol and revolver, and I've never had a problem with P1 ammo.
I actually carry some of their personal defense rounds in .45 caliber in my Glock.
I wouldn't hesitate to carry it in anything I own.

Contact Jeff, he'll make it right. then we can discuss it some more.

I've never had a single problem with Precision One ammo. I've shot it in many different calibers and many different firearms. Some of those firearms were picky eaters and didn't even hiccup with Jeff's ammo. I have had nothing but excellent service from Jeff. If you have a problem , contact him and allow him a chance to find out what caused the "alleged" problem.

Have put 250 P1 rounds through my Sig 9mm with no problems. Now I would like to buy more when he has it.

Wanted to add: This is with P1 reman ammo, not their new ammo.

So I'm new to this forum and probably a little late to this thread but I wanted to put my .02 worth in. I just read an absolutely horrendous bit of smegma, can't call it a review, on a Smith & Wesson forum completely trashing Jeff and the ammo he produces. Personally I have been using Precision One in my HKP2000 .40 and my Walther PK380 and really couldn't be happier. I have had ZERO problems with the .40 and Thumper, my P2000, just eats it up like a redneck at a country buffet. And I'm getting great groups at 10-15 yards. There have been a few issues with my PK380 but I'm not sure if it's the ammo loads. I think it just doesn't really like flat-nosed bullets. Just my opinion. I'm from NC but it is really nice to see that someone in the region makes some good ammo at a great price. I get it from my LGS @$20 for 50. I really hate seeing people trashing and demeaning someone so publicly on forums especially someone who's doing, in my mind, a service to us shooters in this economic time. The only thing I can think is they're Obama/Feinstein people. Sorry to put politics in it. I did something I never do and wrote the company to give kudos where I thought they were due. Some people may have issues with the product but that doesn't mean you have to trash and demean someone who's trying to make a living peddling their wares. If you don't like it, don't buy it. That just means more for me and the others who do appreciate it. I'll keep buying it and I know Thumper will keep gobbling up what I feed it. So Thanks for the good product and keep rockin. Cheers!

Well I couldn't really figure out what to call it but I figured common names for excrement or blather shouldn't be used in polite company. So to speak. I'm actually going to use some Precision One rounds in my first Steel Challenge match on Sunday if that says anything about their ammo. But anyway, Cheers.

saw the ammo quest videos (all 26). pre1 came-out on top (but you already knew that, right?).

bought a box of jhp and a box of flat nose. all my machines like both. did notice "sparking" from the barrel, which i don't normally see with sub +P ammo. not being off to the side of the firing weapon, rather think i might be seeing the residual of flame or blast. other than that, am happy with the ammo, and email exchange with jeff regarding the energetic negative reviews found on other forums. also, got in touch with bangit.com folks who sell pre1 and like working with jeff.

anyone else notice that the address for pre1 looks like a residential unit, a house? wonder if that is just the mailing address and the manufacture is done elsewhere.

cheers, ya'll

Your post seems pretty focused and particular for your first one, but Merry Christmas and welcome to the Forum!

Do you happen to know anyone from this Forum? Just curious as to how you came by to join here, that's all! ;)

Make that http://www.bangitammo.com since I can't imagine what smegma
you might find at the Web address you mentioned.
