PC Police Investigate Shooting

3/21/2013

The Communications Center received a 911 call from a resident in the 1300 block of North Pine Street at 4:29 a.m. Thursday reporting that someone was trying to force entry into his home, Police Spokeswoman Sherry Bowers said.

One dispatcher stayed on the line with the resident while the other dispatcher sent officers to the home. The resident updated the dispatcher with information as it occurred. Just before officers arrived at 4:30 a.m., the caller reported that the intruder made entry and was shot three times.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and transported the intruder to the hospital. From there he was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa.

Bowers did not release the name of the intruder, but he was described as a 26-year-old male. He was shot in the face and the trunk, she said, and flown to the Tulsa hospital for trauma services.

A full investigation will be done and submitted to the District Attorney for review, Bowers said.

I pray I never have to do that...but I would if I had to. That recording got my heart pumping!

Poor guy will probably get sued by the perp. That would be my luck, try to steal my stuff and then wind up owning all of it.

I just watched a Fox news report of this. The reporter interviewed a couple of neighbors. Two said the home invader got what he derserved, and another wondered why he had to be shot three times.

My reply would have been because he was still twitching!

Was the one that wondered why related to Oklahoma County District attorney David Prater?

I don't think so in oklahoma, like the gal that shot and killed one intruder out of two, they charged his budy wiith murder, in other words, OK seems to hold the intruders very liable for their actions.

It's the stop drop and roll method. Stop them, drop them and roll them untill you run out of ammo.
Do I have your permission to repeat this to others? I will always preface this with "A wise man once said..."

Not in Oklahoma. They can't.

I've been through this scenario in my head many, many times. My house was burglarized a while back by a lowlife that lives next to me and I still come home every day checking my surroundings and looking for signs that somebody might be in the house as I pull up. As I open the door I scan and look for signs that somebody might be in the house and then check it. When I'm home, I'm very aware of noises and things that seem odd. Every day I fear the guy will come back.

I know exactly what I will do if it happens. I think all of us should have a plan in place for various possible scenarios. Let this be a reminder that there are bad people around us wishing to do us harm and we must prepare ourselves.

I listened to the 911 call. It's chilling. Some of the comments the occupant of the residency made alarmed me, though. "You better get those motherf******s here or they will die." Later, "They better hurry up because I will blow these motherf******s away." After he shot him, he made a comment about how the guy kicked in his door and him having to die (not sure exactly what he said before "die". I think in a liberal state that isn't as supportive of the right to defend yourself as Oklahoma, the occupant of the residency might face an expensive and long trial due to the comments he made during the 911 call and possibly a sentence in certain states. If I am faced with this situation, I would state that I am armed and will use deadly force to stop the threat if I am required to do so. After the possible shooting, instead of saying "I put three bullets in his ass", I would say I stopped the threat and will wait for the police to arrive.

It's easy to armchair quarterback this and say what we would do different. I'm certainly not attacking the guy. He did what he had to do. I just think we could use this as a reminder of how we need to prepare for this situation and how we should respond if it happens. Of course, my plan could fall apart once I'm faced with this situation. But, the more I plan and think about it, the better prepared I feel I will be if faced with it.

I too was thinking his comments to the 911 operator could be taken the wrong way by a liberal judge or jury. I was thinking he should be begging for the police to hurry cause he was scared for his life. Heck I might even tell them I was so scared I just pissed myself. Then actually piss myself to make it seem legit.

Did anyone else hear at the end that he said that he and his wife had put down their guns? So I guess it's ...Honey if I go down you continue the fire fight......

That had to be really scarry and nerve racking for them, I don't know once I made the call to 911 if I could hang on to the phone and worry about talking to them, my focus would be the intruders.

You were very diplomatic to leave "old" out of the phrase. Permission granted.

Ironically, my door alarm tone is the same as a shot timer "beep"
