? years ago, ( > 10 yrs.) I decided I "needed" ( wanted) a 1911 in Commander size. I posted in the WTB forum of a local firearm website what I wanted, & a guy on the west side of the state contacted me He had a SS Colt, @ what I felt was a fair price. Nice guy, he drove 1/2 way across the state to meet me for the sale / & transfer.
Pistol has functioned fine, triggers pretty nice, might have had some work.
I should've asked the seller what, if any, mods were done to the pistol, I was pleased I'd found what I needed ( wanted).
Now, I noticed it has a Bomar adj.rear sight .. did Colt put this on as oem equipment ?
Also has a duckbill grip safety, ( not a Beavertail) ..I had to look 'em up, to tell the difference
Has a blue ambi-safety, & noticed the top of the slide is machined flat..w/ no "decorations" on the flat surface.
The slide is marked "Combat Commander Model" beneath the ejection port & "Colt MK IV series 80" on the other ( slide lock) side
serial # begins with FC & ends with 42E... FCxxx42E, if that helps.
I read on the Colt website that they chaged the Combat Cmdr. in 2017, I know mine's older than that, but had no info on the features
that were on an earlier version.
I posted to ask if anyone had an idea what year pistol was made ? and if it came with the features I described, or has been modified ?
Thanks for any helpful info from anyone more Colt- model knowledgeable than I am.
