I get the gun buying frenzy, and ammo and magazines. I get that - and I know a lot of new gun owners (that maybe should have taken an NRA or NSSF safety course first) are now proud owners of something tacticool. Good for them - I like the idea of more folks learning how to shoot and refusing to be sheep. And I know (well, hope) that after the craziness dies down a bit I'll be able to get parts, ammo, and if I'm lucky, magazines again.

But I'm getting damn tired of not being able to get reloading components - brass, projectiles, powder or primer. You can't tell me that suddenly every shooter in America is starting to reload. That's just nuts.

Yes, I've emailed my representatives. Even heard back from everyone but Scott. I've looked at the EO stuff listed so far... and it looks sensible. Then you get to the push for congress to act on... thats where it gets hairy. Ban all (as opposed to pistol caliber) armor-piercing bullets? What defines armor piercing? I've got 8mm Mauser that will go through 3-4 people, all wearing vests. It's just FMJ, no steel core or anything. I have a teflon coated saute pan - is that armor piercing? Will we all have to switch to polyethylene ammo like the non-lethal shotgun rounds?

Magazine restrictions like NY's are just nuts. My wife's Sig P225, a concealable single stack 9mm that holds 8, becomes an assault weapon? WTH.

On a good note, East Coast has new production Russian 7.62x54R in cans of 440 for $100. Not 100% sure on the cryllic but it looks like the markings I saw on Russian non-corrosive match ammo. Not the greatest deal, but with shipping not horrible, and supporting a local business that doesn't begin with A.

I think they may have some 12 gauge too - that's about it :)

i just checked Pats Reloading.

say they are expecting some tractor trailers.

223 tracers under $100

hordany 308 a max, poly, and regular

$275, $280and $269 per 1000

I guess my thing is that I reload non-standard calibers (except for 9mm)... 6.8SPC and 8MM Mauser. I can't find the stuff for *those*. I know the 5.56/7.62/7.62 commbloc/9mm etc will be out of stock.

I REALLY need to hook up with one of you guys and get some reloading experience. I cannot even begin to figure out what I would need because I do not even know what half the stuff is.

Also, I bought 200 shotgun primers for my inline black powder rifle. I figured that one was safe from the gun ban for now so I'd need to stock up. Sorry to buy up all the stock. $4.95 per 100 at ATP. I bet that's expensive.

ATP is expensive but if you're buying in small quantities the shipping is what kills you ($25 hazmat fee + normal shipping charges).

I'm in North Chuck kinda behind the K-Mart on rivers. PM me and you can come out and watch me reload sometime. I need a bit of advance notice so I can make enough room for 2 people to stand in the garage...

PCSShogun, PM inbound.

Even if the EO's look "sensible", we have yet to see how they will pervert the meaning behind some of them. This is how they take away from your liberties: little by little until you wake up one day wondering what the hell happened.

I wrote all my elected officials, state and federal, again tonight. While the EO thing has passed, the President called on Congress to get it in gear with the Ban on ARs and similar firearms, along with mag bans and cosmetic features that do nothing but make the guns look scary to people who have no clue how to use them anyway. We need to get Congress and the Senate to let this AWB die on the floor if it even gets there.

I listened to a Chicago Elderman on the news yesterday who referred to a gun's ammunition source as "high magazine capacity bullets". Wut? If they are so ignorant to what is is they are banning, they should have no right to ban it in the first place, but I digress.

One thing I like: actually allowing/mandating data sharing between mental health records and the 4473 background check.
What I don't like: according to the new DSM, pretty much everyone is 'mentally ill'. Depressed? ADHD? OCD? PTSD? take their guns away... forever. Therefore, fear of losing their guns will prevent even more people from seeking mental health care. It's already a stigma in our society, we're making it more so. Good idea run amok.

Private sales having to go through a FFL... I'm ambivalent on this one. I sold a few guns when I lived in NC through a dealer because I didn't get the warm fuzzy from the buyer. He wasn't denied, but at that point it was on the dealer not me. But *mandating* it? That seems an overbroad restriction on possession of private property. First sale doctrine, taking clause, all sorts of trouble. Not to mention the backhanded boon to FFLs to get them to go along with it - I'm sure many are seeing pretty significant $$$, especially since there's no real control on how much they charge.

Stuff like "Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime" just seems to be saying nothing really. But it could be construed to be more invasive than it sounds.

Problem is, the idiot mouthpieces won't actually write the bill. Anti-gunners who have done their homework, like the people at the Brady organization, will.

I'd be happy to give up my defensive guns if no one else, anywhere, cops included, had them.

im not giving mine up if im the last on earth to have them.

bring bullets and you can shoot them.

Every gun in your collection is a defensive gun when it is all that stands between you and the person wanting to hurt you and yours with _________ (fill in the blank). You may be able to kick butt but can your wife win a knife fight. Mine is a Librarian, she is tough, so she could hush them up ,but I'd rather she give them a taste of her .327Mag or two. I don't care if they give theirs up or not.
