I want to order an offset JPoint and start shooting my carbine matches in the open class. All JP has right now are the 8MOA Dots. I've never looked through one, is the 8MOA fine or do most people run the 4MOA dot?

In my opinion, unless you run something like a 3-9x scope as your primary optic, theres no need to run a j-point.

To answer your question, probably would want a 4

Offset anything is not a necessity for carbine or 3 gun matches. I shoot open and I have never used the C-More STS I have on my offset Burkett mount.

Now if your match director runs a bunch of near, far, near, far then it will help you out. I have the smallest MOA they make for the STS and it is nice. I have a 9 MOA RMR and it is too big compared to a 7 MOA unit.
