I'm shooting first 3 gun Saturday! How do I make my xdm safe to throw down in a bucket or whatever is needed???

Check with the local rules or ask the RO. Normally, you just dump it and run since there is no external safety. Some will make you clear it then dump.

I use an XDm. Unless the stage brief says different, you just ground it. Otherwise, it will specifically state the required condition for grounding the pistol, or any other weapon. You will be fine, be safe and have fun!

One lesson we have all learned the hard way is even when grounding a gun on a table or bucket or whatever, THE MUZZLE SHOULD ALWAYS REMAIN POINTING DOWNRANGE. You can easily break the 180 rule with a grounded weapon if you aren't careful
