I learned at my first match Sunday that when you are seperated into squads and told what stage you will start on, it doesn't mean to go to that stage. Myself and a few other newbs took off to stage four when everyone else went to stage two for walk through. That caused me to not realize on one stage there was a mandatory reload after you hit the 2nd popper target. RO was really cool about telling me I goofed up, though. I guess you can't have a first match without a procedural or 3, eh? haha.

Don't even sweat it. Always get there a little early and walk the stages at each match. Read the written stage briefings if they're available. Always, always ask questions during the walk through. Never hesitate to ask!!!

Don't be afraid to ask other shooters how and why they are going to do what they are going to do. Some of it may not be good for you based on your skills, but it will give you something else to practice.

Haha yeah, I was there plenty early. They did the walk through of stage one, and at the end squaded everyone up amd assigned starting stages to squads. Well, me and 2 or 3 other first timers took off to stage 4 while everyone else went to 2 for it's walk through. When no one else was at 4, we realized we goofed and found the group haha. I'm not sure how one would have got the WSB other than asking the ro for it that night.

The part that I thought was funny is I told myself, when you're up ask the ro if that's a mandatory reload. I wasn't sure if it was because of all the single stack guns or if it was rules. Haha. I got in the box, heard "make ready" and off I went! Oops. Lol

I just make it a point to shoot behind Burk. Then I try do do whatever he did not do. I tried shooting behind Tishauser a few times and all I got was a headache... trying to watch greased lightning and all that stuff... ya know?

Louis... over they years I've seen a few 'newbs' who didnt reload mags between stages and came to the line without boolits... you sound like your way above that... keep up the good work.

Haha, I was very paranoid about getting my loaders topped off every stage. I did also get several pointers from the RO. I think his name was also John. Several of the experienced comp shooters gave me some dry fire ideas, too. The shooting community is every bit as much a helpful family as the dirt bike racing community I was used to.

My wife does all my mag loading between stages. She doesnt like bugs so she stays in the truck and reloads everything I drop off, but I have to park so she can see.
