I'm Greg, my experience with the 1911 started with my grandfather and a WW2 Remington Rand bring back, then when I enlisted my first issued weapon besides the M16A1 was an ancient Colt 1911A1 (the Guard was last to have the old slabside). Which brings me to the current age, I use Glocks for work guns, but wanted something different for a carry gun, so I grabbed up an RIA 1911-A1 MS, in 9mm started tinkering with it and it is mostly a Wilson Combat/RIA hybrid now.

Welcome from west mi.

Purchased and started carrying a Colt, Series 70 on the job in 1974. Gone through many handguns since 1963 but have carried nothing but 1911's in .45 ACP since. My carry guns go from Ed Brown Kobra and Ed Brown Special Forces, to DW's in 10mm and .45,to the SA Garrison, to the old Colt Series 70. I reload my own ammunition and have been a competitive shooter all my life, beginning when I was a 17 year old Marine. After retiring from law enforcement I've been making custom, hand made grips for the 1911. www.customgrips-r-us.com

My next one will be a 10mm, I retired from LE in 2024 and moved to Alaska, still work armed but no longer in public service. There are things far worse than men to deal with up here at times.
