I have shot guns for about ten years. I am getting bored of shooting paper. Last year friend took me down to Tri-city for local pistol match. Ive gone to three matches and done surprising well considering i had never drawn from a holster. I am thinking 3-gun is the next level. It looks to be a lot of fun and forever changing. I have a cz cts 40, wilson ar with krieger barrel, and just bought Benelli M2 today. I now have most of what i need. I will be practicing and hopefully hitting up local match next month. Look forward to learning here and taking my skills to the next level.

I have been reading a post by Jesse on how to set it up. I going to with the tube and then trigger. I want to open the loading port as i have seen to be a 3-gun must, but hesitant. I am a mason and pretty tool competent, but cutting into a new gun makes me nervous.

Any suggestions anybody has i am all ears! Ill be looking at ideas for shotgun caddys,loading 2-4?? etc.... Thats my first AR-15 i put together(Had krieger build upper). So i new am new to the AR platform and shotguns in general.

Take a look at the invictus practical caddies. They are pricey but worth it. You can load two or quad load from the same caddy. You will eventually want to quad load anyway so you might as well get the good ones right off the bat.

I hate to burst your bubble but the .40 isn't optimal for 3-gun. It's perfect to start but 9mm rules 3-gun.

In 3 gun there's no major/minor I am guessing. I load my ammo. I assume unless I change guns I should not worry about major /minor and more about lighter loads to reduce recoil?....I joined tri-city to practice every Friday, but I hear OKC gun club is were I need to go shot good local match. When I go is there a particular division my equipment would belong in?

I have read a few lists of what equipment I'll need. I think okcgun club closes club that hold 3-gun events. I am 100% newbie to 3-gun and don't want go out there not have right stuff or sign up for the wrong division,group,classification not sure exactly how it works exactly.

If you come out, just ask just about anyone, most of us have spares or will let you try different caddies etc until you figure out what you want to run.
I might whittle on a stoeger..but not a NEW Benelli...go see Mike Cywrus at Accurate Iron imo
.40 will work..there isn't a scoring difference, but 9mm is preferred by most. You can load bunny farts for your .40 for 3 gun and load major power factor for USPSA matches until you decide if you want to get a 9mm for 3gun. Check out www.makereadyproshop.com for gear too, he's local and delivers to all the matches. He stocks all the good stuff
Try to use lighter recoil 12ga, 1200fps Federal 1145AA Winchester is what most use, your shoulder will thank you. Make sure your gun will run them before you use them in a match. Be sure to always have about 10 slugs and 00buck for 3gun matches as well.

No added scoring for major so we all shoot 9mm for less recoil and higher capacity.

That articles really simplifies the whole thing. While reading forums and Internet articles it's hard to tell what's new and old information. Thank you for posting that article. I've been eyeing Jesse's list planning on what I would need to do first to make it out to the first match. Getting pumped! I plan load some "bunny farts" and get my stuff ready as I can on my budget.I have my third daughter coming in a month hopefully find first match before then. I see the ap 4x4 caddies seem to be a great choice. I've looked at several mentioned. Is loading quads the best way? Since I am new to shotguns I figure learning the right way the first time is the best way. Options on which caddy is best and why??? All ears

I like the caddies that you can load either deuces or quads depending on the situation. I have the invictus straight eight and it works very well. If you are going to have to learn a loading method you might as well learn quad loading right off the bat. I have several of the 4x4'a and haven't used them in over a year. I just keep them around in case there is a stupid long shotgun stage and I need the extra shells.
