I was about to pull the trigger on the Ronin until I discovered it has a PLASTIC trigger! That is a SERIOUS no go. Plastic trigger? Seriously? In a $900.00 1911?? I expect a plastic trigger in my $550.00 new Glocks. First time I've seen a plastic trigger on ANY 1911, period. Cannot believe it! Gotta start from square one. And Dan Wesson's are REALLY nice! But too much at $1200.00+. And why are employees leaving? Story from Norwich, NY. I don't know if it's virus related or something else. Could be just sick workers.Decisions, decisions haha! I have a Kimber Raptor that out of the box has been pretty awesome with 0 issues. That being said, I have several Springfields in different configurations and can whole heartedly recommend them! As Woodlands747 mentioned above the Ronin is a nice gun, I'd say outstanding gun for the price and has become my favorite 1911 in my stable.
I personally do not buy Kimber; what you are actually buying is the name. For budget 1911s I buy RIA. For midrange I but Ruger SR1911. Just personal preference don't read anything into it.Gentlemen,
I'm TRYING to decide on three 1911's, which one to buy. ALL are, all Stainless steel, all are in the same ballpark price wise. I'm slightly leaning towards the Kimber's because of the "Match grade triggers and match-grade bull barrels", but unsure if Springfield has "match-grade triggers and barrels". Do they? That isn't specified on the Springfield. The Kimber barrels look a lot thicker (bull barrels) No idea?? So, we are talking $900.00 +- for any of the three. What would you buy?? Also, it may not have match-grade triggers and barrels, but is the Springfield as accurate? Is Springfield's warranty better than one year on the Kimber's??? How's Springfield's CS??? Kimber has been VERY nice CS! But VERY SHORT warranty. What say you, if you were buying only one? The contestants are:
1) Kimber Pro Carry II
2) Kimber Target II
3) Springfield E Series
Pass and let me know where it is.Mine was the last one in stock at Dawson Precision, one of the largest distributors of the STI brand. They cut me a deal, got $400 of the price on the Tripp site. They wanted to clear out the last one. I think that they had it for some time. I was watching as they sold off other models over a year or so.
I would not be concerned with a plastic trigger if that is what it is. As previously stated by someone else STI's have plastic triggers on many of theirs models and they are very good. Springfield would not put junk parts on their gun. They will stand behind them if there is a problem.I was about to pull the trigger on the Ronin until I discovered it has a PLASTIC trigger! ????????Pass and let me know where it is.
I TOTALLY get it NOW! I am new to 1911's, and thought only "poly" striker fired guns had plastic triggers, and that, that might not be a good thing! Witness all the aftermarket "better" metal triggers for Glocks, etc. I never thought about competition shooting, and LIGHTWEIGHT triggers! But here's a question, why not carbon fiber triggers? Light as a feather, but STRONGER than a plastic trigger??? Just curious. My STI has a plastic trigger and has been shot almost weekly going on 15yrs Why worry on some that don't exist? So many 1st time 1911 owners buy one then start changing things, I never understood that. Just not good sense there. When we had our store we got many brought in for trade that were great firearms BEFORE the owner got it and lost $$$ in trades almost a weekly thing for awhile, most were no way as reliable as they were new. They the buyers of a new one asking "what do I need to change?" Handwriting on the wall again.
